Reid Blasts Bush in Interview: 'This Administration is Drunk with Power'

Democratic Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid Blasts Bush Admin. inBuzzFlash.com Interview: 'This Administration is Drunk with Power'
---------------
Sun Jul 31,10:07 AM ET
---------------
CHICAGO, July 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In an interview with BuzzFlash.com to be posted on Aug. 1, Sen. Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record), Democratic minority leader of the Senate, blasted the pending recess appointment of John Bolton to become U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, BuzzFlash said today. . "John Bolton is a person who, in his personal relationship with government employees, has been abominable, mean, unreasonable and bizarre," Sen. Reid told BuzzFlash. "His not producing the papers we have requested only underscores the importance of why we need those papers. There must be something he's trying to hide."

Two other excerpts from the BuzzFlash.com interview with Reid include:

BuzzFlash: Why does the Bush Administration have such difficulty in leveling with the American people?

Sen. Reid: "Arrogance, abuse of power. This Administration is drunk with power. They control the House and Senate and seven of nine members of the Supreme Court, and therefore, they feel they need not compromise. They need not communicate with the minority."

BuzzFlash: (In regards to the outing of Valerie Plame) What's the role of the President of the United States in holding such treachery accountable, whatever the legal outcome might be?

Sen. Reid: "What it shows me is that the President is not a person of his word. He said almost two years ago that if anyone in his Administration was caught being involved in this, they would be fired. There is no question Karl Rove is involved in it. Evidence is heavy. The President, after finding that Rove's involved, changes his standard from 'being involved' in it to having committed a crime. Well, crimes are hard to prove, and then you go through the appellate process. What does this mean? It means the President is not a credible person."

28. Yahoo's CEO Contributes Heavily to GOP
http://yhoo.client.shareholder.com/bios.cfm

--- Terry Semel
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer
Terry Semel joined Yahoo! as chairman and chief executive officer of Yahoo! Inc in May 2001. ---

http://news.com.com/Silicon+Valley+votes+with+its+wallet/2100-1028_3-5280182.html

--- Yahoo CEO Terry Semel gave $50,000 ($25,000 in 2003 and $25,000 in 2004) to the Republican National Committee and $2,000 to Bush, but also donated $5,000 in November to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He also donated to Al Gore and Bill Bradley during the 2000 presidential race. ---

And it's SOP at Yahoo to post that IP address message. This is the 2nd time since Rovegate broke that the Yahoo boards have gone down, it does seem suspicious.

Most of the crap at Yahoo is so superficial, I don't know how Yahoo expects to keep people interested without their boards.

21. AGAIN: Press Releases aren't ratable on Yahoo!
It has to be pointed out over and over again, I guess. Yahoo! does NOT rate or support the 'Recommended Story' function for Press Releases! Never has. It's not a 'conspiracy' or 'hack'!!

All anyone has to do is see the dateline "/U.S. Newswire/" to know it's a Press Release.

(sheesh!) :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

I'm not sure its old news to the majority of Americans. I think most of them still need to get the message.

9. Yep, I totally agree with Sen. Reid; my only question is....
What does he, as Senate Minority Leader, plan to do about it?

For example, the Bush administration doesn't want to release some of the papers of John G. Roberts. I think that is only one exmaple of them being drunk with arrogance and power. It's as if they are saying "We are only going to let you know what WE WANT you to know about this nominee."

So a perfect way to counter that arrogance, would be for Harry Reid to put a "hold" on John G. Roberts' nomination until the Senate gets all the papers it wants. Put a hold on the nomination. That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about.

25. Don't be so flippant
Of course those of us on DU know that the Bush Regime is drunk with power, but chances are that your average American is waking up to that ugly fact. And having the Democratic Party's lead pol step up and say that the Bush-Halliburton Regime is drunk with power, that Bush is not credible (read: Bush is a liar) and that Bolton's recess appointment is unacceptable in no uncertain terms, is a huge step forward. Can you imagine how the trained seal former Sen. Daschle would have put it?

Don't just sit there and whine do something it's called the filibuster and punishing dissident democrats by cutting off campaign reelection support and committee assignments. Ineffective party leadership is what has gotten things to the present abysmal state of affairs.

32. Bears repeating. And repeating. Maybe the spineless wonders will catch on
How'd their solidarity look last week?

Non-existent.

Somebody needs to grab them by the balls and twist until they realize the importance of unity.

Reid's saying the right words, but some action would be nice.

A Mormon son of an alcoholic also brings a lot of resonance to the term "drunk".

Good. Keep it up.

12. I would like for the Dems to say that in solidarity
as a representative of the people, and as a group that has a responsibility to the Constitution.

I would like for the Dems, and others of conscience, (to borrow from the parliamentary system) to say that they have "no confidence" in the bush administration and the rabid rw of the Senate & House that are pushing the bush agenda.

I would love for the Dems to say in solidarity that the bush administration and their cronies in Congress are not acting in good faith. To have them say in solidarity that the pres is not a credible person, and neither are his policies, nominations, and appointments.

Just put it out there once and for all. Make the rethugs have to defend their treachery, lies, malfeasance, and corruption. Enough is enough!!!!
