BAGHDAD, Aug. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- A car bomb struck a US military convoy in central Baghdad on Tuesday, killing and wounding dozens of people, police said.

"A car bomb blew up at around 1:00 p.m. (0900 GMT) in Baghdad's

Tahrir Square, a crowded commercial area, targeting a US military convoy," a police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The casualties were not immediately known, but the source said that dozens of people were killed or wounded.

A US Humvee was destroyed in the attack along with about 15 civilian cars, the source added.

2. Wasn't there one yesterday that cost us about 5 KIA?
I can't keep track anymore.

In the meantime, our fearless leader is getting ready for his annual monthlong vacation. I can't wait to see what new product they roll out this fall.

9. Interesting
Your pictures show what Bush was doing when he should have been reading the PDB's, doing the "look, I'm a regular redneck guy like you, really. Don't your friends give you thousands at a time to waste drilling dry holes?"

11. Bush doesn't really "clear brush"
I've read that this is purely a Public Relations ploy. Bush's PR people felt that it would be good for Bush to act like an "ordinary guy".

In fact, Bush bought the Crawford Ranch right after he announced his candidacy in 2000. As far as I know, he'd never done any "brush clearing" before that.

I notice he's holding a saw in the lower photo. I'm not sure he has the mental capacity to be holding tools like that.

Thanks for posting, J.

10. I wish someone would produce a video montage...
... of Bush vacationing in Crawford interspersed with images of the London, Madrid, Bali bombings, US military in Iraq and Afghanistan, with voiceover from Bush's 2001 address to Congress saying "I will not rest."

5. Apparently changing the name hasn't changed the reality.
The global struggle against violent extremists looks the same as the global war on terra.

Rank changing the name from GWOT? to GSAVE! right up there with the before and after of 'major combat operations have ended'.

This one sounds really bad. To take out a Humvee and about 15 cars -
