Bush Thanks Astronauts for Daring Mission

The Associated Press

President Bush, speaking to Discovery and Space St

WASHINGTON - President Bush phoned Discovery's astronauts on Tuesday, thanking them for being "risk takers for the sake of exploration."

In a telephone hook up with the space shuttle crew, the president wished the crew "Godspeed for your mission."

"Thanks for being such great examples of courage for a lot of our fellow citizens," Bush said.

Discovery Commander Eileen Collins told Bush, "We really enjoy what we're doing. We really believe in our mission."

7. I'm surprised that in the last 5 years...
No smarty pants democrat has been able to get Bush on the phone.. I mean, think of all the stupid groups Bush has "thanked" or appeared with. Are his handlers really that good at filtering us out?

I think it'd be hilarious for someone to embarress him in public. I think he'd flip out personally..

8. HE ACTUALLY TOLD THEM TO "GET BACK TO WORK!"
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 01:02 PM by pimpbot
hahahah. I just heard an audio clip of him "thanking" the astronauts. At the end, he said "Now, get back to work!". What a dumbass. It was one of his "jokes" that really isnt a joke.

Transcript:

At 10:21 Eastern time today, the astronauts received a call from President Bush. On the video link, they bobbed gently as they waited for the president to come on the line, their hair puffing up without the restraining force of gravity. Speaking from the Roosevelt Room, Mr. Bush said, "I just wanted to tell you how proud the American people are of our astronauts.

"I want to thank you for being risk takers for the sake of exploration," he said.

Col. Eileen M. Collins of the shuttle crew thanked the president, and said "we all enjoy what we're doing - we really believe in our mission and we believe in space exploration, and getting people off the planet and seeing what's out there.

"The steps we are taking right now are really worth it," she said.

The president finished by saying "Thanks for taking my phone call - now get back to work."

12. For daring to fly the mission you mean
rescue team of Boy Scouts with nets in place all over the nation just in case.

One thing you have to be in Bushamerica is brave and good- or very very ignorant.

14. Did he call the families of the 20+ dead Marines...
in the last two days and console them and acknowledge their loved ones' "daring".

Of course not.

What a fracking jerk. Words cannot describe how truly loathsome this maggot is. I hope he enjoys his five weeks of brush clearing and whiskey blackouts while the world turns underneath him.
