4. The real number of casualties
is probably more like 5,000. They don't count the deaths if the injured die after making it to a hospital. They don't count, ya know.

6. That is a myth
They do count US soldiers that survive back to a hospital but later die of their wounds. Read more on the Icasualties website here:

http://icasualties.org/oif/Details.aspx

For example, #1953 died at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Honestly though, I had to go back to the third page to find that one; the last time I looked through there a month or two ago there were plenty of deaths in hospitals. Now they're all dying in the field. What it looks like is that the insurgency is using much more powerful bombs that don't give hit soldiers a chance of survival.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

8. NO! I know exactly where that Dis-Info came from, and the source is BS
That Dis-info originally came from TBRNews, which is a Dis-Info, Holocaust revisionist, Web site. That info is total BS. I've had the site the 1806/2000 number comes from since the count was about 300, and it is accurate. It's not "run by the Government" or the Pentagon, it's a civilian run web site.

We even have one of the site creators here, who is a long time DU regular. This is the most accurate number available, and yes, it counts ALL the U.S. "Iraq War" Casualties, no matter where they die.

9. Thank you
I don't find it difficult to believe that the gov't lies to us about everthing, and assumed they were lying again. Thanks for the info.

2. When the Vietnam War was in stalemate in 1964 LBJ used...
...similar language to justify that war as Bush uses now. But, LBJ had a legacy of only 400 American dead at that time. By the time the Vietnam war was declared over by President Gerald Ford and American troops were being withdrawn eleven years later, nearly 58,000 Americans had died. Based on that precedent Bush and his successors could run the casualties up to 290,000 or more Americans dead before this is over and the result would be the same, America's withdrawal and loss of control in that region.

3. Wait a sec -
I was just on Yahoo news, reading about the latest story about the 5 Marines who were killed.

The article said 1800 killed. What's going on here?
