IRVING — Jim Hightower, former Texas Agriculture Commissioner and national radio commentator, will be speaking at the Veterans For Peace National Convention 2005 at the University of Dallas in Irving. This is 20th year for VFP’s annual convention as veterans from all over the nation gather to stand against war and move forward the cause of peace.
Dubbed “America’s most popular populist,” Hightower is writer, public speaker, and author of Thieves In High Places: They’ve Stolen Our Country And It’s Time to Take It Back. He will speak at the banquet on Saturday, which starts serviing at 7 p.m. Program begins at 7:30 p.m.
Other speakers include Jesselyn Radack, whistleblower and former attorney; Coleen Rowley, former FBI agent and whistleblower; Mike Hoffman, co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War; Cindy Sheehan of Gold Star Families for Peace; Camilo Mejia, conscientious objector; and Kerol Harrod, folk musician.
