BAGHDAD, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Three U.S. soldiers were killed in a car bomb blast in Baghdad late on Wednesday, the U.S. military said on Thursday.
The attack occurred in the southwest of the city at around 8 p.m., a spokesman for the 3rd Infantry Division, which is responsible for security in and around Baghdad, said.
The deaths bring to 28 the number of U.S. troops killed in action in Iraq in the past four days, according to icasualties.org, a website that tracks military deaths.
That is the highest rate of deaths since the first week of the war. A U.S. military spokesman said on Wednesday that there had been no increase in attacks against U.S. forces, but said their intensity was greater.
