Security spending remains shroudedDespite new law, jurisdictions stingy with public records

Jefferson County, given a similar request for such spending on behalf of 10 northern Colorado counties, responded with eight bulging binders of documents.
Another region of the state that includes Pueblo County took nearly four weeks to respond. It asked the Rocky Mountain News for a payment of $1,084 for time spent to "compile the information."
Those are among the responses of a dozen government entities to the News' requests for records of homeland security spending after the documents were supposed to be opened up, at least in part, by a new state law on July 1.
