Arroyo's message for Bush (Relationship between poverty & terrorism)
Edited on Wed Oct-15-03 02:16 PM by Billy_Pilgrim
MANILA, Philippines, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Filipino President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said Wednesday it was "critical" for U.S. President George W. Bush to understand "how closely related the war on terrorism is to the war on poverty." The Bush administration has repeatedly said there was no correlation because most terrorists came out of middle class and well-to-do families.

Arroyo explained that the link between terrorism and abject poverty was "a friendly debate" between her and Bush and that she would bring the matter up again during the U.S. president's 8-hour visit to Manila on Saturday.

"There is no denying that poverty provides the breeding grounds for the recruitment of terrorists," she said in an exclusive interview with United Press International.

"It's critical that there be a better understanding of how closely related this was is to the war on poverty," she said.

Just because Dubya's supposed "Public-Eneney Number 1" is Osama bin Laden it doesn't necessarily follow that rich kids made the best terrorists.

Krist, if that's the case, if Dubya and Company get another term every slack-jawed son of every trophey wife in suburbia will be gunning for him!

4. It stands to reason that only happy and content people would
want to become a suicide bomber. People who live in squalor and see no end of their poverty love American Corporations for exploiting them in making $125.00 a pair Nikes paying them $0.15 an hour.
