Bush: Foundation set for continued economic growth

WASHINGTON (AFX) -- President Bush on Tuesday lauded recent signs of a strengthening economy and credited his policies with setting the stage for further growth. "The economy of the United States is strong and the foundation for sustained growth is in place," Bush told reporters ahead of a meeting with his top economic advisers at his Crawford, Texas, ranch. Bush repeated his calls for Congress to permanently extend his first-term tax cuts, create private Social Security accounts, and pass legislation to limit medical-malpractice lawsuits

5. Take into account this is Bush Speak for
"The economy sucks and is getting suckier."

This is orwellian bogus junk. Take everything Bush says and turn it into its opposite - and THAT becomes the REAL truth.

BTW, hasn't he been saying this same 'ol thing for four years now? The economy is on a good footing, etc.? Ready for growth?

WELL WHERE THE HELL IS THAT GROWTH!! And WHERE are the jobs!!

9. The corprat robberbarons are happy
...that's what he means. Well. Not quite yet. They won't be happy until there is no one left but themselves and some very very very poor wage-slaves in this country, and nothing/no one in between.

But look how far they've come toward that goal!

12. Treasury Sec. Snow: Poor have been hurt by Bush's policies
Snow Concedes Economic Surge Is Not Benefiting People Equally

Treasury Secretary John W. Snow acknowledged yesterday that the fruits of strong economic growth are not spreading equally to less educated Americans, as he and the rest of President Bush's economic team prepared to meet today to discuss wages and income distribution in an otherwise surging economy.

13. Well, let's take a look at what's happened under the Bushoilini Regime ...
They take 'pride' (it's actually called hubris) in the "economy" (their word for GDP) - which is a bit like a mugger taking 'pride' in the recovery of his victim after he ran away.

Corporate profits in comparison to the compensation of the employees who created such profits is near an all-time high. In other words, the "owners" are happy.

The last time this ratio was higher, it was followed by the Great Depression.

The taxes on those corporate profits are near an all-time low.

It's no surprise that employee compensation is so low, since employment has taken a bigger hit during this regime's reign than any time since the Great Depression.

Most of the charts I maintain can be seen at http://members.aol.com/tahitinut/MyCharts.htm

why would we need a foundation for continued economic growth, if the economy is already strong?
