BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Military officials say five American soldiers have minor wounds after a deadly car bombing in western Baghdad Wednesday.
Officials said the blast targeted a joint U.S.-Iraqi patrol. It killed four civilians and three Iraqi police officers.
Tuesday night in the north, militants attacked U.S. soldiers. Four troops died and six other Americans were wounded in the city of Beiji. It's not clear if the casualties were caused by a roadside bomb blast or by gunfire that followed. The U.S. command said insurgents attacked them Tuesday night while they were on patrol in a town 155 miles north of the Iraqi capital. The military said all the soldiers were with Task Force Liberty.
The U.S. military said an American serviceman died in a bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan. This is the fifth U.S. troop death in Afghanistan this week.
