Ex-WorldCom CFO Gets 5 Years in Prison
Updated: Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 - 11:17 AM

By ERIN McCLAM
Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - Former WorldCom finance chief Scott Sullivan was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison for his high-ranking role in the largest accounting fraud in U.S. history.

Sullivan became the fifth WorldCom executive to be sentenced to prison in the $11 billion scandal. His sentence is topped only by that of ex-CEO Bernard Ebbers, who got 25 years.

Sullivan, 43, was the star witness at Ebbers' trial earlier this year, testifying the CEO repeatedly instructed him to "hit the numbers" _ or adjust WorldCom's books to meet Wall Street expectations.

2. I lost 2 jobs because I refused to do the same stuff! GLAD I did!
This just proves the excuse "the boss made me do it" doesn't work!!!

I'm sooo glad to see these AH's get jail time!!! Just maybe a lot of low level accountants out there will refuse to be coerced!

I also wonder how much cash this asshole has stashed in an offshore account. My heart goes out to him. Having to sell his 11,000,000.00 cottage that he and wifie are building in Boca Raton.

5. I wish it were longer
Sullivan is the scummiest of the WorldCom gang. Just the pictures of his Florida estate built from stolen money was enough to make me gag.

Five years is not long enough for this sad sack of shit.

8. Pathetic, isn't it?
Watch the sentence be commuted after a short interval.

7. Wasn't Hyatt sentenced to 25 yrs for armed robbery?
This guy causes more pain and suffering and steals millions and gets five years. i love these "'white' collar" criminals who get to spend 5 yrs at a country club Fed prison when pot smokers are sentenced to 30 years or more.

struggle from scratch!

Give the monies to help provide for the poor, or repay the stock holders on record or better yet, use the money to provide the necessities for our soldiers so their families don't have to give them the flak jackets, radios, armor for the vehicles, better food, and anything else they need while they fight dubya's war!

On Edit: BTW, when is Ken Lay and Skilling from Enron going to trial? Martha was investigated shortly AFTER Enron, has been tried, served her sentence and is still being harassed!
