US loses spy drone as Iraqis make off with wreck

MOSUL, Iraq, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Iraqis in the northern city Mosul have made off with a top secret American spy plane.

The U.S. military in Iraq said in a statement on Thursday that one of its "unmanned aerial vehicles" -- otherwise known as a drone -- had crashed in the town the night before.

"Within the hour, the crash site was investigated by nearby troops who assessed that no civilians or property were harmed or damaged as a result of the accident," it said.

2. "assessed that no civilians or property were harmed"
Yeah, right. They just wanted to get the hardware back. Spare me the fake concern for the citizens of Iraq.

6. So much for Saddam's balsa wood "drones of death"
With this design to work from, somebody might be able to come up with something that actually does pose a danger. Thanks, Bush.

7. If I remember right,
This is the second or third one the Iraqis have gotten their hands on. A bit of reverse engineering and poof! Iraqi drones!

Once again we're fighting this war much like we fought Nam, and are making many of the same mistakes. Time to get us out of Iraq now, before it gets worse.

11. Well, after all, we don't want to send the wrong signals ...
to our victorious enemies.

9. And they're going to hold the unmanned nonpilot hostage.
Maybe they'll compare it to those tiny little planes the Administration claimed Saddam was going to use to spray WMDs on the U.S.
