Cindy makes it to Swedish newspaper: "The face of Opposition"

The War Opposition has a new Face: the 47-year old mother Cindy Sheehan.

She is in the process of sabotaging George Bush's summer vacation.

The US president is taking a 5-week vacation this year. That's extreme, say most people; his critics. And they're growing. The bad news from Iraq are seriously eroding the president's popularity and the support for the American involvement there.

Bush is relaxing as usual at his ranch in little Crawford in Texas. That's where Cindy Sheehan has come to pay him a visit.
<snip>

The story about her is growing enormously. She has been to CNN and CBS, she showed up at ABC's Good Morning America on Wednesday. Several other mothers who have lost their sons in Iraq are going to join her.

<anip> Now, she says that Bush wasn't even aware that she had lost a son, and called her "mommy" during the meeting.
<snip> ....but, hardly a mother who has lost a son in Iraq. We're going to see more of Cindy Sheehan.
---------------------
See - even the Europeans know a Hot Story when they see it.

2. This is a good sentence, sounds like a jab ...

Bush relaxing - as usual. LOL!

3. Very important article... many wonderful talking points to be harvested.
It's a bounty crop, folks, these past couple of weeks, and Cindy is our greatest farmer in this cause. America was built on the backs of great farmers. Cindy is sowing, and all of us, bush included, will reap what she has sown. Some of us will benefit, others will wither. 8^)

6. Thanks for the translation. This is tremendous.
They even included a tiny photo of her son. First time I've ever seen his face.

Good line about his relaxing as usual. It's hard work for him to relax up to his true potential THIS time!

11. Yes, I noticed the photo of Casey.
I thought that was a good article. Not too nice; there was certainly some criticism of Bush with his "relaxing as usual".

I read Swedish online newspapers every day. It's really rare to see anything even vaguely critical of Bush. It's not that they don't like him - they don't. It's just that they don't DISLIKE him either.

Well, that's about to change.

Thanks, JudiL.

7. The Swedes and the rest of the world
can see through the BS of the repukes.
Here's an example from the end of the article;

Conservative commentators have now started attaching her personally.
She has flip flopped. A common accusation in the conservative arsenal.
It might have worked against John Kerry, but hardly against a mother who lost her son in Iraq.

10. Yes, I translate articles every now & then
for the DU. Here's how to contact them. If you go to the left-hand margin and scroll down to the very bottom, there's a link called "Kontakta oss" which of course means "Contact us".

If you click on that, you get: http://www.expressen@expressen.se

The Editor's name is Kjell Ekberg, but I don't think you'll need it. Either way, they'll read it. English is fine. They all speak it over there.

Thanks! You inspired me to send them one too.
