Mom says war protest will continue until month's end

CRAWFORD, Texas Cindy Sheehan says she'll continue her anti-war demonstration for three more weeks, even after counter rallies and a neighbor's gunshot blasts into the air.

She says she won't leave "Camp Casey" until Bush meets with her and other grieving families or until his month-long ranch visit ends.

Sheehan started the protest August sixth in memory of her 24-year-old son Casey, an Army specialist killed in Iraq last year.

Her makeshift campsite along the road leading to the Western White House has grown to more than 100.

1. Gunshot blasts into the air?
God these unthinking Bushites are neanderthals. Do you know of any progressive who would even consider trying to intimidate those she/he disagrees with by shooting a gun?

Wow. How any thinking person can be a Bush supporter is beyond me.

3. Don't blame him
It's *'s obstinacy that's keeping them there. He's just a crochety old farmer who wants people off his land.

11. Firing a gun in the air is not smart
I'll give you the crotchety part, and that it is primarily Bush's fault, but don't fire guns into the air to scare people away. That is lunacy.

Of course, from another perspective, it makes Cindy's group look pretty good and the GOP as bad. This guy represents the Bushites, so his irrational actions can be seen as a reflection of his ideology.

4. Three more weeks......
that should be just about enough time to shred any credibility Bush had. We all know the statistics: the deaths will continue. There has been a steady stream of fatalities in Iraq.

And as long as they do, Bush's last remaining power will be seen to evaporate. He'll continue driving down the road, going to cattle round-ups, barbecues, bike rides, pool parties, and every time he drives by, he will see 1,800-odd white crosses. Look up at his face, with the boxing glove approaching.

That photo was taken at his ranch, when he addressed Cindy Sheehan vicariously. He looks pretty unhappy to me.

Apparently you think so.

13. "making a political statement...?"
Or standing up for what's right in the world that your children will inherit after you're gone? What Cindy Sheehan is doing is not an empty gesture made at the expense of her family-- it's an act of courage and sacrifice to make the world a better place for her family and everyone's.

14. I bet your's are all alive too.
Wait until one's killed for a bunch of lies.

Then you can make judgements on what Cindy's doing.

Until then what you think is totally irrelevant.

20. I can certainly feel for Andy.
But I believe Andy is 21 years old.

And what she is doing is much more than a "political statement". She is trying to get bush** to answer her questions on why her eldest son Casey died in this unnecessary war as well as all the others.

All those young people wanted to come home too. Alive. And their parents, children, and other loved ones wanted them to also. They can't now.

And she is fighting for all the lives of all the future children who may be sent to die in his wars.

There is probably a draft coming to fill those low recruit numbers. She is fighting for Andy and all our children, including yours.

21. The best way to teach children is by example.
Cindy is a wonderful person and her credentials as a parent are impeccable.

She's taking on the entire U.S. government in the name of her son. And in doing so she's helping other military families cope with losses.

Other military families have joined her in Texas on their own accord.

7. Every time I see "age 24" it just tears me up.
Or any age, but my God -- no one should die at age 24. Or 20, or 19, or 36 for that matter. No one should die in a war like this.

16. In view of
who accept the war only as a necessity and not as a means of conquest, in view of their being deceived by the bourgeoisie, it is necessary most thoroughly, persistently, patiently to explain to them their error, to explain the inseparable connection between capital and the imperialist war, to prove that without the overthrow of capital it is impossible to conclude the war with a really democratic, non-oppressive peace.

This view is to be widely propagated among the army units in the field.

19. I thought I read that she was planning to follow him to DC
if necessary, after his vacation--hence the "three weeks." (Does anybody remember her saying that?)
No sense in hanging around Crawford if * isn't there. Fire ants, unrelenting heat, and gun-totin' yahoos for neighbors....:puke:

23. Wish Mrs. Sheehan could do September too, because
Then I could go and give her some moral support. Sadly and unfortunately I won't be in Texas until mid-September...that's hoping that there isn't another "incident" engineered by the BushThug Inc. to have an excuse to bomb the bejesus out of Iran...and thus causing all commercial planes to be grounded throughout September.
