KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Canadian soldiers returned today to the Afghanistan farm where four of their comrades were killed in a friendly fire tragedy three years ago and for some — veterans of that earlier time — it was an emotional moment they found difficult to talk about.
"It's humbling to be back here," said Sgt. Chuck Cote, struggling to find just the right words to describe the moment. ``It's almost like going back to the scene of the crime."
Pte. Richard Green, Pte. Nathan Smith, Cpl. Ainsworth Dyer and Sgt. Marc Leger were killed on April 18, 2002, when a U.S. fighter pilot mistakenly bombed them and other members of the Edmonton-based 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry.
