Ex-soldier accused in Las Vegas shootings

LAS VEGAS (AP) - An ex-Fort Hood soldier accused of using an assault rifle to kill a woman and wound a man in Las Vegas is claiming self defense.

An attorney for Iraq war veteran Matthew Sepi today told a judge that her client should be eligible for psychological treatment, not facing trial.

The judge gave attorneys for both sides two weeks to negotiate a possible plea deal.

The 20-year-old former sharpshooter from Winslow, Ariz., is charged with felony murder and attempted murder -- and is held without bond.

Sharpshooter

Expert

You get one of the three depending on how many times you hit the pop
up targets.

Sharpshooter does not automatically translate to sniper.
