Sen. Biden Says Bush Should Fire Rumsfeld
-------------------
By RANDALL CHASE
Associated Press Writer
-------------------
August 15, 2005, 10:09 PM EDT
-------------------
DOVER, Del. -- President Bush needs to fire Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and level with the American people about the situation in Iraq, said U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden, who is testing the political waters for a possible White House run in 2008.

(snip)

"Why doesn't the president just tell the truth?" said Biden, adding that Rumsfeld should have been fired a year ago for incompetence -- whether it be sending too few U.S. troops or failing to equip them adequately -- that approaches "criminal."

"The president's got to get rid of Rumsfeld," he said.

1. It would really pique my interest if the headline was
Sen. Biden says Bush should resign and "take the rest of his scumbags with him."

5. Why is he using Rummy for a punching bag?
Rummy is just a stooge carrying out his master's bidding. Attack bush or whoever you think is pulling his strings. That's where the root of the problem is. If Rummy wasn't there, they'd just get some other flunky to do the exact same thing.

9. "Incompetence" is the key word here.

This is not something to chortle about; it's a tragedy. Rumsfeld goes strutting around, basking in media popularity and his image as a tough guy.

Meanwhile, thousands upon thousands have died, and the dangers of terrorism have increased, not decreased, and there is no assured peace in the Middle East.

Let's face facts. Even a nation with a long-established republic or constitutional monarchy or the like, with an intelligence apparatus and well-trained police and military, can face literally decades of civil war, insurgency, and/or terrorism. We're supposed to believe that Iraq faces anything other than years of civil war and unrest? Haven't the jackasses at the Pentagon noticed all the assassinations of Muslim clergy, which commenced virtually at the "conclusion" of the invasion? The people are supposed to thank us for setting up a situation where not only can't they resume normal lives but live every day in fear of more violence?

What Rumsfeld, Bush, & Co. have carried out is almost unforgivable incompetence and short-sightedness. Rumsfeld, instead of strutting around posing his own questions, ought to have been ousted and replaced by someone with a conscience and a brain.

Rumsfeld is a loser, a liar, a vain idiot, and a phoney. He should spend virtually the rest of his life in disgrace.

This is an ugly situation, and there's nothing to gloat about. These morally and spiritually empty "men" get people killed, and precious little else.

12. "Senator Biden talks to a wall."
I can honestly say that I simply do not listen to Biden. He's blathering all the time about something, be it relevant or not. It's hard to tune in when 50% of the time you know he's talking stupid. But that's just my take.

13. Biden seems like the waffler to me, not Kerry
One minute he's supporting Republican policies, the next he's taking potshots at the Bush Cabal. I defintely agree on this Rumsfeld issue, though.

P.S.: Does anybody agree with me that we shouldn't run any guys named Joe for president in '08? :)

15. He's already tried to resign
Rummy was dragged in front of Kennedy at a hearing a while back, where Kennedy demanded his resignation. Rummy retorted that he's tried twice and the President refused to accept it. The heat needs to go to Bush.

16. i found Rummy's rap
a little too pat for my taste. it just doesn't make sense. is he being held prisoner or something? a good manager knows when it's time to let an employee go, and a clue is when they're on their knees begging to leave.

if rummy wanted out, he'd be gone.

as for biden, at this point, its all spin.

"yeah, i was for the wart. even sent my son. and we coulda won if it wasn't for rummy, that inept clown."

hey joe... at whatpoint did you realize rummy was inept. you been in dc what 30 years now?

sheesh.
