2. Yet, there are those, on this board, who will still dis him.
Harold, my friends, has been KICKING ASS on the local talk radio stations.

He's been holding Bush's feet to the fire.

10. Why would anyone dis Harold Ford?
Oh yeah...because he's a DLC/Vichy tool who thinks Dim Son is a "great guy" whom he "likes a lot"

http://brownwatch.squarespace.com/to-the-present/2005/3/20/rep-harold-ford-says-bush-is-a-great-guy-joins-gop-to-fix-fake-social-security-crisis.html

This fool was carrying Dumbya's water at a time that was crucial for congressional Democrats to remain united to preserve Social Security. I have a memory and I don't forget enablers within our own ranks.

And he's left the Vichies where they lie.

Check out his last vote on CAFTA.

18. Wasn't it Ford who made a "dust up" when Pelosi was nominated
to be the Minority Leader in the House? The rhetoric was that "Pelosi was too liberal." I'm proud to be a liberal Democrat and IMO Pelosi is quite moderate.

The keynote speaker...Before the festivites began Congressman Ford was working the room...Speaking to and shaking hands of everyone present...I chose to wear my Yellodog Democrat button in his honor...Well I got a reaction..he came up and said..."I love your botton" I replied I thought of bringing you one but was afraid you wouldn't want it"...He understood fully why I wore it and what I ment.

4. I don't honestly get what that would accomplish
What's the difference where he is? If he was in DC he'd just be screwing everything up. He might as well go clear brush and shoot tin cans and brown nose Saudi princes. Iraq is a freaking disaster no matter where he is. If he wants to, let him go to Disneyland and wear mouse ears and eat cotton candy on the roller coaster, who gives a sh*t? I'm sick of watching him pretend he cares about the troops.

6. Harold Ford, Jr.
I believe will be the first African-American President of the United States. Hopefully he will win the Senate race in 2006 and after a few terms there he could become President. And with him being from Tennesse it might be easier for him then Barak Obama or Jesse Jackson, Jr.

" Your own military experience, Mr. President, should inform you that too much stress is being placed on too few U.S. warfighters. "

I don't quite understand that remark? Although we know Bush couldn't handle the stress of being a pilot and he was removed from pilot duty and never completed his service, while others completed their service and others went to Vietnam.

21. No, perhaps GOD talks to Ford like he does Bush ...
And God gave Ford the "A OK" to make this mild criticism when he was conversing at one of his numerous Prayer Meetings?

Voted YES on allowing school prayer during the War on Terror.(Nov 2001)
Voted YES on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)

Nope, no to more politicians who wish to mix Church (Christians only!) and State.

22. I think Jr. should stay in TX--as there will be more harm done if he
returns to the eastern WH!!

For one thing--with Cindy being right next door--she is dragging him down (slowly but surely).

Besides any 'reform' he takes up in Washington turns out to be terrible.
Keep him crawford!

25. Ford is a Blue Dog Democrat who only voted with the party 4 times

Stayed with the party four times: Marion Berry (AR), Sanford Bishop (GA), Ben Chandler (KY), Harold Ford Jr. (TN), Tim Holden (PA), Mike Ross (AR), David Scott (GA). It is worth noting that three Republicans, Mike Castle (DE), Christopher Shays (CT), and Christopher Smith (NJ) broke with their party four times.

Wow. Just eight years old, the New Democrat Coalition quickly rose to become the largest ideological caucus within the House, and just as quickly lost half of its membership. Here are links to their members in the 108th Congress, and to their members in the 109th Congress). Particularly interesting is that most of the losses came form people, both on the left and the right, who simply left the caucus even though they did not leave the House. This coalition is sponsored by the DLC, which clearly has fallen way, way out of vogue. It just ain't cool to be DLC anymore. Then again, they may have been heavily padding their list for the 108th Congress.

Overall, the Democratic caucus went from having 88 Blue Dogs / New Democrats in the 108th Congress, to just 62 in the 109th Congress. The number of Progressives stayed the same, while non-aligned went from 68 to 91 and became the largest "caucus" within House Democrats.
http://www.mydd.com/story/2005/6/1/175318/4953

Out of the nine votes (the child interstate notification abortion act has since been added to the original eight) and the one proxy vote (I have also added Social Security to the totals via the Fainthearted Faction and Conscience Caucus collected by TPM) here are the current levels of party loyalty among different groups in the House:

All Democrats: 82.5%
All Republicans: 96.1%
DLC: 79.0%
Democrats, non-DLC: 83.3%
Blue Dog Democrats: 54.3%
Non-Blue Dog Democrats: 88.3%

Bingo. Caucus disunity has a name-o. Outside of the Blue Dogs, Democratic Party loyalty on the important, party differentiating votes in the House is comparable to Republicans: 88.3% to 96.1%. Further, Blue Dog Party loyalty, 54.3%, is massively lower than that found either in the DLC, 79.0%, or among non-Blue Dog Democrats, 88.3%. Overall, the thirty-five members of the Blue Dog coalition account for 44.9% of all Democratic Party defections over these ten votes / issues, even though they only make up 17.2% of the caucus.

We'd probably do better in TN electing a moderate Republican. Liberal is not a dirty word and I believe that once people really know what liberal means they'd vote for real Dem values.

I see the Blue Dogs as wolves in sheep's clothing. The only thing they're good for is adding to Dem numbers to reach a majority in the houses. I think we can do better.

The biggest slap in the face was Ford voting for the bankrupcy bill. I don't know how he can look his constituents in the face. Memphis especially will suffer greatly from his vote. The only thing that will save him is the fact that most people don't pay attention to how their representatives vote.

that Ford himself voted for. He, like Kerry, Hillary, Biden, and the rest, thought this was gonna be a "cakewalk," and and easy way to build National Security street cred in anticipation for the run for higher office.
