Pilot 'alive when plane crashed' (Cyprus Airliner Greece Crash)

The co-pilot of a Cyprus airliner that crashed killing all 121 on board was alive when the plane went down, according to the chief coronor of the investigation.

"All the autopsies on victims carried out so far, including on the co-pilot, showed they died of their injuries meaning they were alive when the plane crashed," Reuters reported Philippos Koutsaftis as saying.

Examinations of 20 bodies, including that of a flight attendant, have already indicated they were alive when the plane crashed, an Athens coroner said.

Nikos Kalogrias, one of seven coroners, said the 20 victims' hearts and lungs were working at the time of the crash. "The attendant was alive and died of injuries" sustained in the crash, he told The Associated Press.

Meanwhile the airline said a text message reportedly sent to a relative by a "freezing" passenger onboard the airliner was a hoax and the sender, Nektarios Voutas, had been arrested.

5. I've had the exact same injury before.

A cut above the eye from falling. I didn't even need stiches, but a lot of blood was coming out. I certainly looked as bad as he did.

3. Some people were still alive and others were "frozen solid"

That seems unlikely. Perhaps the frozen solid claim has been debunked by now, and I just haven't seen the story.

how on Earth could six people have been alive on impact if everyone else was frozen solid?

And I wonder about that frozen solid claim. How long would it take for a human body to become frozen solid at sub freezing temperatures? How long was this plane up in the air after contact was lost?

6. This is an odd story for sure

Someone speculated this morning that perhaps there were people in the lavatories when the decompression happened.

The pressure would keep them from opening the door until the plane got lower. Then when they could open it, they'd see everyone dead.

They'd rush to the cockpit to try to save the plane.

What a nightmare.

Have no idea if that even makes sense, but this is truly an oddity.

The frozen solid claim seems less and less likely. As for some terrorist angle (as mentioned down-thread), who knows? Governments seem to love to warn us of it all the time, but also seem rather reluctant to admit it when it happens. Big Brother wants us scared, but still trusting in his ability to save us.

7. In the Greek Community, THIS AIRPLANE CRASH DOESN'T ADD UP

There is something that we don't know. This is VVVEEERRRY weird and more INVESTIGATION OF WHO was on the airplane and WHO had access to this airplane. This smells like terrorism of some sort.
