Report: Fla. GOP Courts Joe Scarborough (to replace Harris)
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Two local businessmen active in Republican Party politics say the GOP is courting cable TV host Joe Scarborough to replace U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris (news, bio, voting record) in the 2006 Senate race against incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson.

Scarborough, a former U.S. representative, has met with senior Republican officials, Collier Merrill, a Pensacola businessman told the Pensacola News Journal in a report for Wednesday's editions.

The other businessman, Eric Nickelsen, said he had contacted Scarborough and encouraged him to run, and he corroborated that other party leaders wanted the cable talk show host to challenge Harris.

Scarborough declined to comment late Tuesday. He was sent to Congress four times from the Pensacola area, beginning in 1994.

Yep, the press will give him a past, but there are these pesky little folks called Bloggers.

I think Ole' Joe will be cognizant of their power and sit this one out. (if he is smart)

Remember, the suddenness in which he left Congress that stopped the conversations about the little skeletons in his closet?

He is as frightening and cold blooded as any right winger anywhere.

And he's an asshole.

Scuttlebutt in PNS has it that he knocked up a young Washington intern - and that was the grounds for his divorce.

That said, I would LOVE to see Cruella and Joe slug it out in a primary battle - dirty dish and shit would fly...

22. Report: Pensacola Republicans say Scarborough courted for Senate
Aug 16, 10:48 PM EDT

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) -- Two businessmen active in Republican Party politics say the GOP is courting cable TV host Joe Scarborough to replace U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris in the 2006 Senate race against incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

Scarborough, a former U.S. representative, has met with senior Republican officials, Collier Merrill, a Pensacola businessman active in the party, told the Pensacola News Journal in a report for Wednesday editions.

Republican Eric Nickelsen, a partner in the firm of John S. Carr Co., said he had contacted Scarborough and encouraged him to run, and he corroborated that other party leaders wanted the cable talk show host to challenge Harris.

Scarborough declined to comment late Tuesday. He was sent to Congress four times from the Pensacola area, beginning in 1994. He resigned in 2001 to spend more time at home.

Jeez, what a pair of winners. I can't decide which one is worse. Harris or Scarborough? Maybe if Scarborough runs the media will reopen that dead intern laying on the floor in his office case?

I saw both -- the DS graphic of Colmes at the end was hilarious.

who sold cars. What I like about Macy is that he plays these forlorn characters like the cuckold husband on Boogie Nights.

This picture captures that look:

"Katie" Harris' forced smile was pretty creepy, too, now that I recall it.

47. TV Show Host Scarborough Weighs Senate Bid

Congressman turned political talk show host Joe Scarborough has a choice to make: renew his contract with NBC or challenge Katherine Harris for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Scarborough said Wednesday that he has already talked with Sen. Elizabeth Dole, who heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and plans to meet with Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman and White House officials next week about whether to get into the race to unseat Democrat Bill Nelson.

"I've told everybody I'll keep an open mind. I'm happy with NBC, NBC is happy with me. They've offered me a new contract. That's sitting on the table," Scarborough said.

Scarborough, who spent seven years in Congress, said Republican leaders are concerned about Harris' electability because of the role she played in the 2000 presidential recount. She was Florida's secretary of state then, and Democrats say she fought recounts that could have jeopardized President Bush's 537-vote victory.

Scarborough Laughs About Dead Staffer

From BartCop Forum:

Conservative MSNBC news host Joe Scarborough was a guest on MSNBC's Imus show last Thursday, May 29.

In complementing Scarborough on his sense of humor, Imus said, "Don't be afraid to be funny, because you are funny. I asked you why you aren't in Congress. You said that you had sex with the intern and then you had to kill her." To which Scarborough laughed, "Yeah, ha, ha ha, well, what are you gonna do?"

64. Great Minds Think Alike
I thought the same thing. "How much will it take before she gets pissed and starts talking about what really happened in Florida?"

This proves beyond a doubt that the RepubliKKKans don't give a shit about the good of the country, or family values, or the people they represent. This proves that it's all about POWER! In their minds, that Senate seat belongs to them, and by God, they're going to get it, by hook, or by crook. If it means they have to squash the enabler Harris like a bug, so be it.

They see a Democratic Senator that may be vulnerable.

They see a RepubliKKKan woman that has a lot of baggage.

They see a smarmy, beady eyed, divorced, "I don't know how that dead intern ended up in my office", neo-con, that has had an "informercial" for the past 4 years.

They see that, said neo-con, may have a better chance of beating Senator Nelson than "Cruella DeVille".

and voila!!

Now, if the people of Florida elect either of these "numbnuts" instead of Senator Nelson, they deserve what they get!

Joe Scarborough mulls challenge to Harris

TALLAHASSEE - Congressman turned political talk show host Joe Scarborough has a choice to make: renew his contract with NBC or challenge Katherine Harris for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

Scarborough said Wednesday that he has already talked with Sen. Elizabeth Dole, who heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and plans to meet with Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman and White House officials next week about whether to get into the race to unseat Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson.

''I've told everybody I'll keep an open mind. I'm happy with NBC, NBC is happy with me. They've offered me a new contract,'' Scarborough said.

Scarborough said Republican leaders are concerned about Harris' electability because of her role in the 2000 presidential recount

76. It's not his fault that the intern's heart stopped and she fell
striking her head on his desk. Of course, how she managed to land UNDERNEATH the desk is a bit of a problem. Perhaps an exhumation and an accident renconstruction specialist are needed.

70. The lesser of two evils...
Scarborough. At least we wouldn't see him on t.v. while he was campaigning. Hopefully, MSNBC won't pick him up again after he loses.

71. If he balks on this, I'd guess he's indicating there really IS something
he's trying to hide, and he's afraid to tempt fate by running again.

His disappearance from Congress at a time he was gaining momentum, having even been one of the ones who got in on the ground floor trying to kick Bill Clinton to death politically was unexpected.

Suddenly Scarborough announced he was quitting in order to "spend some time with his family," the same family he didn't remember when he joined the feeding frenzy on the Monicagate scandal. You couldn't KEEP him off camera then. He was morally outraged! Suddenly he was also getting divorced. Suddenly he was gone.

What happened, Joe?

74. Whatever it was, I'm sure it had nothing at all to do
with the female staffer found dead in his office, since that was declared a death by natural causes by a coroner who had been thrown out of Missouri for falsifying autopsy results....

75. What would it have taken to get the media attention on this?
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 11:18 AM by Judi Lynn
Maybe someone should suggested to a Washington reporter that he's a secret Democrat.

No one EVER formally found it worth anyone's attention that the coroner had a fiendishly unreliable history.
