Bush rips Feingold plan
Senator wants Iraq timetable
Associated Press

A White House spokeswoman said Thursday that U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold's proposal to withdraw all American forces from Iraq by Dec. 31, 2006, would send the wrong message to U.S. troops, the Iraqis and the insurgents.

Spokeswoman Dana Perino said Iraqis need to know the United States won't pull out of Iraq before completing its mission.

"It would also send the wrong message to our troops," she told reporters at President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he is vacationing. "We are serious about completing the mission, and they need to know that they have our full support. And it would send the wrong message to the enemy, who, as the president has said many times, would just then have to wait us out."

Feingold, D-Wis., said he based his proposal partly on what happened when other timetables were set in Iraq, effectively setting things in motion to transfer sovereignty, hold elections and prepare a constitution.

5. what bullshit!
anyone who thinks that the troops won't at least be leaving Iraq by the midterms next year, stand up and give me a smile. Just a coincidence that the 'mission' will be done by then. Can you image how much cash is being spread around Baghdad right now to get the 'constitution' ratified?

How is telling the troops, Hey, in June 2006, you'll be out of that hell-hole a "bad message for the troops."?

15. What flawed reasoning...
The Bush spokeswoman, Dana Perino says, along with other idiotic things, like sending the wrong message, is that if we give a timetable, the insurgents would just wait us out. They're going to do that regardless of whether we stay or leave.

They live there, and we don't. So the notion that if we "stay the course", we'll eventually drive them out, doesn't make any sense. All staying the course does is getting more people killed and injured, causing more death, destruction, and injury to the people of Iraq.

There is something that Bush, who as we know isn't capable of thinking about very much but his exercise regime, has overlooked. Cindy Sheehan will follow Bush around until he has given her answers to her questions. We look at her face, and see the face of a woman trying to live with the agony of burying a child.

There are other mothers who have lost sons, and daughters, husbands, fathers and brothers. They also know that this whole fiasco is Bush's fault. Some of them live in this country, and some of them live in Iraq. We see Cindy's anguish, but the longer we stay, the more we will be hated; how many Iraqi mothers, having lost loved ones to this illegal invasion, are now preaching resisting to their remaining family?

I have never studied the culture of the Mideast, but just from my limited knowledge, there have been, and will continue to be, vows of vengeance made every time we humiliate, torture, kill, or injure more innocent lives. They will wait us out in any event, because Iraq is their home. Bush is a mass murderer, and he is
destroying America as surely as he is destroying Iraq.

16. What a broking effing record for what, two years now?
It sends the wrong message to be occupiers you fucking idiot.

Setting up a timeline to leave tells the people of Iraq we want to help them handle things on their own. They can't do any worse with us out of the way than they are right now for cripe's sake.

And the fact that the media keeps letting him get away with this broken record crap just pisses me off even more.

18. I have no doubt that Biden, Feinstein, Clinton, Libermann
and all the wonderful, don't make waves democrats, feel the same way

Sorry, but the only way this country is going to learn is the hard way, the way they did in Viet Nam.

Oh, and by the way, to those parents who lost their kids in Iraq, your children did die for nothing. It did NOT protect us one bit, or make the world "safe for Democracy"
