Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Son's Death

A man who told friends he didn't want his 3-year-old son to become a sissy was sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing the boy by slamming his head into a kitchen wall just weeks after the child's return home from foster care.

Ronnie Paris, 22, was sentenced Friday after convictions last month for second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

His son, Ronnie, died Jan. 28, six days after the boy slipped into a coma with swelling on both sides of his brain.

Several witnesses testified during Paris' trial that he sometimes got rough with the toddler while play fighting and told friends his father had raised him to be tough and he planned to raise Ronnie the same way because he didn't want a "sissy" for a son.

1. Bully's are SO manly!
:puke: Lock up the father (and maybe the grandfather) and then toss the key into the garbage.

2. He should really hate prison, then.
Manly young thing like that...

I wonder if James Dobson has the decency to feel ashamed at stories like this, from people basically following his advice.

4. Child abuse: the "gift" that keeps on giving, generation after generation
Sounds like daddy was abused by grand-daddy. What a waste.

Not an excuse for the guy that killed his baby boy, just an observation. If only there were better intervention and retraining for abusive families -- but that would mean many more social workers (to get those caseloads down from dozens and dozens to around 30 per), and that would cost money. Right.

5. looks like he got what he wanted
The child is definitely not going to grow up and be a sissy. Poor thing.
