Insurgents kill eight policemen north of Baghdad(& 3 civilians)

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Ten Iraqis, eight of them policemen, were killed by gunmen north of Baghdad on Monday, police and hospital sources said.

The men had left a local police station wearing civilian clothes and were travelling in a minivan along with three civilians when gunmen followed them in three cars and sprayed them with gunfire, police captain Karim al-Salmani said.

The third civilian was wounded.

The attack occurred in the small town of Tarmiya, 25km (15 miles) north of the capital.
