Venezuela to Lend Oil to Protest Torn Ecuador
http://www.voanews.com/english/2005-08-22-voa3.cfm

Venezuela will lend crude oil to nearby Ecuador until that nation's oil industry stabilizes after a week of protests.

Venezuelan President Huge Chavez made the announcement from Cuba Sunday. He said Venezuela will assume Ecuador's oil commitments at no cost to Ecuador. Most Ecuadorian oil exports go to the United States.

Meanwhile, a truce between the protesters and the Ecuadorian government has restored calm in the country's northeast. snip

The protesters have been demanding new contract negotiations with foreign oil firms, and increased spending on infrastructure and social programs.

2. Wouldn't that be something if Otto Reich has been down in Ecuador...
...to cause all this trouble there to begin with? And this offer by Chavez just ruins the entire scam. Just saying...

4. You may be onto something! He moves around intimidating small
governments without the public's awareness. We only hear about it if we stumble across one of the newspaper articles from their countries.

I ran across an article from one of the small Caribbean Islands a couple of years ago which detailed a visit he made to threaten them not to complete a transaction they had underway with Cuba, to sell Cuba their old buses they were replacing, a real need Cuba has continually due to the embargo.

They pulled back and obeyed the Bush administration demands. Sad.

Chavez's solution to this problem shows he's an excellent leader in this hemisphere. He's been doing a LOT of right things.

Bush, on the other hand, has accomplishments, too. He gives tax breaks to the people who need them the least, and he tortures and kills people.

3. hmmm - in effect - Hugo has increased the USA's need for HIS oil - no?
.
.
.

From the posted article:

"Ecuador's state-run oil firm, Petroecuador, which usually produces over 200,000 barrels of oil a day, produced only 33,000 on Saturday."

So now Hugo is providing around an extra 150,000 barrels of oil to the US of A really - right?

now -

how are the PNACers gonna spin that as evil?

I know

I know . . .
