Chavez ally: Robertson a 'fascist'
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- A Venezuelan lawmaker on Tuesday accused U.S. televangelist Pat Robertson of shedding his Christian values by calling for President Hugo Chavez's assassination.

Pro-Chavez lawmaker Desire Santos Amaral said she was shocked to learn that Robertson, a former U.S. presidential candidate, said on his show that if Chavez believes the United States is out to kill him, then it should. Robertson said this would stop Venezuela from becoming "a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism."(Full story)

"This man cannot be a true Christian. He's a fascist," Santos said. "This is part of the policies of aggression from the right wing in the North against our revolution.

"Robertson's comments appear likely to further stoke tensions between Washington and Caracas. Chavez has repeatedly claimed that American officials are plotting to oust or kill him -- charges U.S. officials have denied.

15. Whatever happened to "Thou shalt not kill"?
"This man cannot be a true Christian." Santos said.

Guess I'm with Santos.

False gospels, false prophets, minions of Satan, it's all in the Bible.

On top of that, Chavez was democratically elected, unlike Bush. For those true believers with moral values out there:
"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

3. Man, they gotta learn to play their cards right...
When you're legitimately, democratically elected by the people of your country, do you really want to give ammo to the commiephobics of America by refering to your administration as a "revolution"?

6. But it is a revolution.
No point in hiding the fact that Chavez, and his supporters, are largely revolutionary in thought on a socialist level, not faux populist bs. A small number of plutocrats have lived lavishly off the backs of a super-majority of the people (Who have lived in poverty) for decades, the time of that being the status quo is nearly over.

To hide that to me would be more damaging within their own country.

BTW I support their aims 100%.

31. Actually, I'm just pointing out that the response plays into the hands...
of people like Robertson. I'm offering a simple commentary here. No need to dismiss it out of pure spite. If you have a thoughtful commentary disagreeing with mine, I'd certainly welcome it. But Given what I've written, and given what you've written, I wonder which of us could really be best described as "adolescent."

34. OK. Does it occur to you that Robertson's comments
play into Chavez' hands? That it is not Chavez that looks like a loon when this trite drivel about socialism is repeated over and over? Chavez' stature is waxing and the US government's is waning, so whom is it that ought to reconsider?

35. Viva La Revolution...or whatever
Seriously though, I know there has been a concentrated effort to connotate 'revolution' with commies and heathens, but what greater American patriots have there been but those of the "Revolutionary War"?

Revolution is a beautiful word.

And yes, it gives more credibility to Chavez.

He's right. Pat is a fascist and an idiot above all. US televangelism has become a synonym for right wing lunacy, extremism and outright supporting of state terrorism. Calling for outing a democratically elected politician who's only sin is being of different political background and ideology is supporting terrorism. Pat Robertson is the one to be examined....

And btw, isn't this against the law and stuff over there in the USA? If it was vice versa (some high religious or political representative calling to assasinate Bush or say Roberston himself), all hell would break lose. I guess a republican administration that's largely supported by the same folks that idolize Roberston ain't gonna say a word against it, afraid to offend their base (or actually agreeing with such positions). Whatever, Pat go to hell....

But the way Pat babbles makes it pretty vague.
But the FBI would sure be checking him out if he was not an establishment figure.

13. "shedding his Christian values"
Since when has Pat Robertson had Christian values. And if by xtian values he means values from the bible, then he's right along with them. If he means the ideals of Christ, then he's never followed them.

to say that because that'll stop the drug flow to the USA. I laughed him out of the building by laughing and said, drugs will always find a way in the USA. Besides, it's not drugs, it's, it's...THOSE RED COMMUNIST! Ah, 1954 all over again.
