Afghanistan: Osama Bin Laden Reported Injured

http://www.adnki.com/index_2Level.php?cat=Terrorism&loid=8.0.200350331&par=0

AFGHANISTAN: OSAMA BIN LADEN REPORTED INJURED

Kabul, 24 August (AKI) - Osama bin Laden has been wounded in Afghanistan, according to two different reports carried by various Islamic websites. Referring to the al-Qaeda leader as Abu Abdullah, the second message, which appeared on Wednesday, said: "Mullah Ahmadi, military leader of the Badr brigades, which form part of the al-Qaeda organisation in Afghanistan, has confirmed that Sheikh Abu Abdullah has been injured in his left leg."

It follows a previous message on several Islamic websites saying the fugitive terrorist leader was injured while taking part in an attack on a Spanish military base in Afghanistan.

The second message relaying the news is titled "Confirmation of the injury of Sheikh Abu Abdullah in the Al-Khulud expedition" and adds other details, specifying that the injury was to the left leg and claiming it was sustained "when the Sheikh went out onto the battlefield to lead the expedition during which the Spanish base was attacked and which was named the Al-Khulud expedition."

"The source has promised to broadcast soon a video of the expedition, which lasted four hours," the message continues, before concluding: "Therefore we ask Allah to heal the Sheikh and make him well again. Don't be miserly in praying for him."

16. You call him that because you believe he sent the hijackers to this
country on his own without a partnership with the US - or because of his partnership with the US - or because you believe he is responsible for all the insurgency in Afghanistan or Iraq?

38. Yes...look at the facts.
bin Laden wants to destroy the economy of the U.S.
Our PNAC-Cabal regime wants to destory the economy of the U.S.

It addes up to me. It doesn't take much for me to guess which one is dominant, i.e., which one wrote the contract and which just read it and signed.

This line discredits the entire article:

"Mullah Ahmadi, military leader of the Badr brigades, which form part of the al-Qaeda organisation in Afghanistan..."

Badr Corps is part of AQ in Afghanistan? Time to hire a fact checker.

39. Not specific enough for me.
Additionally - we need bin Laden alive to testify or at least comment about our recent history from a prison or his arranged safekeeping.

Anyway, I don't believe he was fighting. It's all vague and incongruous. It appears to be another whitewash. If they try to have him die in typed words, we'll know it is all a cover-up for his further protection.

I have seen zero credible evidence that bin Laden
was behind 911. Bush/Cheney did it. bin Laden may
have been involved - who knows?

If you are going to be angry, be pissed at bush/cheney.

47. regardless of 9/11, bin Laden is a terrorist leader
who calls for mass murder of people based on religion (Judaism) or national origin. That alone justifies wanting him dead. Even without the attacks on US soil, he has still killed innocent civilians, deliberatly, to make a political point. Or were Bush/Cheney somehow responsible for the Kenya and Tanzania embassy bombings? how about the USS Cole?

While I don't accept the tin foil premise that the US government was responsible for the 9/11 attacks, even if they let them happen does not change the guilt of the person who carried outthe incident. doing nothing in the face of evil does no excuse that evil.

Look at it this way, you give me a key to your house and tell me that your sister will be asleep at 2 am, and that I should come in an rape her. So I do. You allowed it to happen, hell, you told me to do it, did all the planning and everything. am I somehow off the hook for rape? no. we're BOTH guilty.

12. Sorry - I don't buy it.
Too many details for one, considering that we haven't seen hide nor hair of this man for months. Second the manner in which he is said to have been wounded - leading an attack on a Spanish Base in Afghanistan (was there such an attack? Anybody know?). If memory serves Ben Laden gave more overall guidance than actually doing any of the killing himself.
It makes no real sense - would they risk the symbol of their movement on an attack on an obscure nameless spanish base? If Ben Laden was going to take a change that he would join the Martyrs surely he would leading an attack on an American Base yes?

And of course this comes out at a time when approval over *'s handling of the Iraqi war is at an all time low and in the middle of *'s 5 day media push to rally support. What better way than to toss out the prospect of the death of Bin Laden.

41. My thought too Zen
I could see him getting caught in an ambush or wounded by a sniper, or even injured when some ammo goes off by mistake, but his organization would really have to be torn to shreds before he would lead a small unit assault.

I'd say he may be injured, but if he is they're changing the reason.

When Hitler died, German radio reported he died in the front lines fighting the Russians.

Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 09:04 AM by Catrina
Imo, this is just another attempt to save Bush ~

Weren't we just told last week that we KNOW now that Osama is in Pakistan?

Those mysterious Islamic websites!!

And, btw, Osama Bin Laden is not in his seventies, he's in his forties, maybe fifty by now. But I can see him leading his troops attached to a dialysis machine! And, I am not even sure he was the culprit in 9/11. How do we know this? What evidence, other than 'we were told by the Bush administration' that he was responsible?

Sort of like Al Zarqawi, who we haven't heard about lately, but who has had one leg, two legs, then one again, he's been killed, resurrected, then 'seriously wounded' a few months ago, only to reappear with no mention of the 'serious wound'.

Iraqis do not believe in his existence, and Dan Rather had visited his hometown in Jordon two years ago and found what others had found there, he was a very ordinary, poor, not to bright guy, completely incapable of leading a movement like Al Queda. I always thought that was one of the reasons the administration hated Dan Rather so much.

Bush's poll numbers are in the thirties and Bin Laden is wounded!! And we should never forget that the Bushes and Bin Ladens have been involved in business for three decades with Bush Jr. getting financial aid for his oil business from one of Osama's brothers.

51. I just did some figuring --
With 1864 dead in Iraq, out of 135,000 there, we are losing 1 for every 72.
With 223 dead in Afghanistan our of 15,000 there, we are losing 1 for every 67 there.

On a percentage basis, our casualties in Afghanistan are higher than in Iraq.

86. Thank you
So then the question is even more relevant, why Bush has not visited the troops in Afghanistan? I wonder if he even knows how many soldiers have died there.

Your numbers are revealing. I haven't heard anything like this kind of analysis on the MSM ~ not that I expect to, btw ~

97. Good find
People have completely forgotten about Afghanistan.

I remember thinking in the build up to the Iraq invasion, even if there was some justification (and it was obvious there wasn't any), Afghanistan was by that point a good indication of how well this administration would do in the rebuilding of Iraq.

People think Afghanistan saw those pics of women taking off burkas and men getting shaved and thought, "oh we're done there. We liberated them. They're a democracy" (I recall one person asking me that once).

33. And just why are we supposed to believe this?
alawi was supposed to only have one leg, one eye and something else missing or injured, yet he's able to run away from US Troops and leave behind a laptop in a taxi.

so now they are telling us the OBL is injured? And why are the US Gov't suddenly listening to Arabic newspapers? Is this were they get their hard field information from now?

What a bunch of dopes.

colossal failure*

Is it really former? My guess is he still works for the US government. I still have this vision of him in a Lazy Boy eating Doritos watching TV at the Bush ranch. Someone needs to make a smiley like the ones below with a turban, maybe a beard? Just thought it is fitting.

46. Meridian Arms, CIA, and Tim Osman (Osama bin Laden)
A couple of years later, Meridian International Logistics, the parent company of Meridian Arms, was to farm similar research out to the Japanese. This included (according to minutes of a corporate meeting dated Aug. 26, 1988) methods for "induction and activation of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes". Associated with Meridian's Robert Booth Nichols in a Middle Eastern operation called FIDCO, a company that ran arms into and heroin out of Lebanon's Beqaa (Bekaa) Valley, was Harold Okimoto, a high-ranking member of the Yakuza. Okimoto had longed worked under Frank Carlucci (who served as Secretary of Defense and Deputy Director of the CIA before becoming Chairman of The Carlyle Group). Okimoto owned food concessions in casinos around the world—Las Vega, Reno, Macao, and the Middle East. (Free drinks and anthrax while you play blackjack, anyone?)

Meeting Riconosciuto and Gunderson at the hotel were two representatives of the mujahadeen, waiting to discuss their armament needs. One of the two was named "Ralph Olberg." The other one was called Tim Osman (or Ossman).

"Ralph Olberg" was an American businesman who was leading the procurement of American weapons and technology on behalf of the Afghan rebels. He worked through the Afghan desk at the U.S. State Department, as well as through Senator Hubert Humphrey's office. Olberg looked after the Afghanis through a curious front called MSH—Management Sciences for Health.

The other man, dressed in Docker's clothing, was not a native Afghan any more than Olberg was. He was a 27-year-old Saudi. Tim Osman (Ossman) has recently become better known as Osama Bin Ladin. "Tim Osman" was the name assigned to him by the CIA for his tour of the U.S. and U.S. military bases, in search of political support and armaments.

Robertson, MR. REPUKE SPOKESPERSON & FORMER serious PRES. CANDIDATE voicing repuke and bunkerboy's official policy. Check.

82. I hope he dies too.
I think he's responsible for 9/11. He admitted as much in last year's video. Now, I wouldn't trust a DOD or CNN translation, but I'm inclined to believe one from al-Jazzera:

And as I looked at those demolished towers in Lebanon (in 1982!), it entered my mind that we should punish the oppressor in kind and that we should destroy towers in America in order that they taste some of what we tasted and so that they be deterred from killing our women and children.

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/79C6AF22-98FB-4A1C-B21F-2BC36E87F61F.htm

I don't care if the US government sent him money to chase the Soviets out of Afghanistan. Not in a 9/11 context. He was the ringmaster for this puppy. If anyone in the US, or anywhere helped him on 9/11, I hope they die, too. Very slowly. Guiltyguiltyguilty.

Better a live prisoner than a dead martyr. Or, just throw him into Gitmo and invite Lynndie England over with her leash.

Sorry, that sounds awfully Freeper of me, but OBL is just plain EVIL. Period. Regardless of what the * admin did or did not do, HE GAVE THE ORDER TO KILL 3,000 AMERICANS. Not to mention all of the casualties in Madrid, Bali, Riyadh, London, and everywhere else. Gitmo is too good for him. A quick death is DEFINITELY too good for him.

Where are your links? Where is the proof?

Btw, I think it is highly arrogant to claim that all of those killed on 9/11 were Americans!

People from 62 countries died that day. If you can't even get that fact straight, why would anyone believe anything you scream?

That's kind of hard to believe.

If he's injured or dead, fine. Good riddance but this has about as much credibility as the millions of other stories of his whereabouts or his condition.

103. Speaking of OBL, was that October 2004 video real?
There have been many threads here dissecting videos, from the "fat Osama" one to Nick Berg to the mystery bulge. Stills, pixels enlarged, the whole works. Almost no scrutiny on the one that popped up right before our election. A very obvious way to fake it would be to take an old visual from back when OBL was healthy and looking much more chipper, and redub it with new audio. It's possible to completely engineer original fake audio statements if you have enough soundclips from the one you want to impersonate. That would leave signs that someone who knew something about the process could detect. Wondering why there has been no interest.
