Bush Pledges to Stay Course in Iraq War

NAMPA, Idaho - President Bush, rebutting critics who are calling for the U.S. to pull out of Iraq, pledged that as long as he is president "we will stay, we will fight and we will win the war on terrorism."

In a speech to members of the Idaho National Guard and their families, the second this week by the president in an effort to rebuild support for the war, Bush emphasized the sacrifices military families make. He noted that Idaho has the highest percentage of National Guard troops serving in Iraq.

"We'll complete our work in Afghanistan and Iran," Bush said. "An immediate withdrawal of our troops in Iraq, or the broader Middle East, as some have called for, would only embolden the terrorists and create a staging ground to launch more attacks against America and free nations."
"So long as I am president we will stay, we will fight and we will win the war on terrorism," he declared.

Bush said the country faced a clear choice after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 _ either hunker down and retreat or "bring the war to the terrorists, striking them before they could kill more of our people."

27. If so, this is NOT the first time he's made verbal blunders ...
He's got Pre-Senile Dementia according to a number of objective mental health professionals. Yes, they have not PERSONALLY examined the President , but dammit, the "classic symptoms" associated with this condition are glaringly apparent.

How much (any details) do we know about his recent physical?

"Pre-Senile Dementia: Abnormal substances in nerve cells of patients with this disease affect brain and nervous system function, causing confusion, memory decline and impaired cognition (thinking ability). Patients also develop movement disorders and, possibly, seizures. Symptoms begin in midlife, between 45 and 55 years of age."

I don't think it is "putting on my tin foil hat" to question why the President of the United states was "so out of control" that he ran into a British Police officer? Also, perhaps the facial bruises as a result of his so called "choking on a pretzel" were instead, a developing movement disorder / seizure? He's well within the age when symptomatology would begin to surface. Finally, has Bush's profound "knee problem" been widely reported? Perhaps the switch to mountain biking had less to do with a "bum knee" and more to do with participating in a sport that would not "drop" Bush for having momentary lapses in and out of consciousness?

What do you think people? Would GW Bush's doctors LIE to the American Public? If GW Bush does, in fact, have this condition, is he still COMPETENT to serve as President of the United States?

I'm totally freaked out when I consider the above ... tell me that I'm overly paranoid? Make me believe that he's merely mean-spirited and callous. Please do not tell me he's mentally incompetent?

The above are frightening thoughts for any American (and World Citizen) to contemplate about any sitting President.

31. He is definitely sounding more and more
like someone with a mental illness. It's like listening to the psychotic ravings of a person who clearly hasn't got a grip on reality. In addition to all the other reasons I wish he would be impeached, and removed from office, it's downright scary to think of how much power he has, and that the person with all this power needs to be confined in a mental institution.

What's even more scary is that he has selected others who either cater to his delusions, or are mentally incompetent themselves, like Rumsfeld. Cheney is just greedy and corrupt. Rove is sub-human, and enjoys running the show behind the scenes, and having all the power he does. I wish the rest of the country could wake up, and see that Bush is not mentally stable enough to possess the power he has.

25. Typical Republican excuse for logic:
...Among the families scheduled to meet with Bush was 18-year-old Stevie Bitah. Her father father, Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Virgil R. Case, died June 1 from non-combat related wounds in Iraq.

"At first, I was kind of scared to do it _ I didn't know what to expect. There's been lots of anger and sadness," Bitah said. "If I met with him, I think he'd know that this person I lost was important to me _ not only to me, but to my entire family."

Bitah said she does not share the anti-war views of Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who lost a son in Iraq and has given momentum to the peace movement by holding a vigil near Bush's ranch. But Bitah said she hopes American forces will return soon to spare other families the loss she endured...

(Emphasis mine)

How can you not share Sheehan's "anti-war views" and yet hope "American forces will return soon to spare other families the loss?" Surely she and everyone else is aware of the difference between being "anti-war" and just being anti-this-war and anti-this-president!

what we on the left, in the middle or for that matter some in his own party say about him. Take a look around and see what has happened to America since he became president. I am not talking about 9-11, or Iraq. Talking about costs, cuts, deficits, debt and things relative to those. Things will not go back. The price of gasoline will not be a dollar less if the Dems take control of the Senate in 06 or a President in 08. This is the way it will be....Bush has in affect, acomplished exactly what he intended to do.... Bush in the eyes of about 36% will always be greeted as the greatest since Reagan or greater then Reagan...

43. TX has the highest # of guard troops in Iraq / Afghanistan
and second highest # of total deaths (behind CA).

So, it's not really fair to paint TX as not sacrificing for this war due to some perceived Bush favoritism.

Trust me, I live here, Bush doesn't give a shit about TX soldiers any more than any other soldier.

Neither does our legislature who makes their VA care so impossible.

Blah, blah, blah, "9-11." Blah, blah, blah, "Democracy." Blah, blah, blah, blah, "finish the job (and swallow.)" He also threw in a familiar hook phrase or two (usually obtained from a familiar rock tune or commercial because his speech writers know he can say it with certainty and simple minds think "it´s cool" because they prefer single-syllable wording.) Checking indy media for protest coverage ´official´ corporate media overlooks. More later... 8/24

Bush Strengthens Defense of Iraq Policy in Latest Speech
By DAVID STOUT

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 - President Bush offered an unusually strong defense of his Iraq policy today, describing the military campaign there as vital for America's security and peace in the Middle East, and he said he would consider other pre-emptive strikes.

"Our nation is engaged in a global war on terror that affects the safety and security of every American," Mr. Bush told members of the National Guard in Idaho. "In Iraq, Afghanistan and across the world, we face dangerous enemies who want to harm our people, folks who want to destroy our way of life."

64. Bush: We will complete the mission
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/08/24/bush.speech/index.html

NAMPA, Idaho (CNN) -- Americans appreciate "the service and the sacrifice of the military families" during the ongoing war in Iraq, President Bush told Idaho National Guard members and their families Wednesday, as he insisted again that a withdrawal from the strife-torn country would be a mistake.

"We mourn the loss of every life. We pray for their loved ones," Bush said. "These brave men and women gave their lives for a cause that is just and necessary for the safety of the country, and now we will honor their sacrifice by completing the mission."

This really deserves a picture of the boy pretender on the aircraft carrier, but I haven't figured out posting pics. Are Karl and Karen on vacation too? Or maybe just partying with Oxyrush? Who the heck would approve him using ANY variation of Mission Completed? His handler's must be off their feed....

80. Excellent point.
What about that "Mission Accomplished".
------------------------

It's pretty irritating to have an 'Absent Without Leave' Leader talk about a "Mission". What does he know about a Mission?

His stupid reference to that word made me think of that old TV Show "Mission Impossible". The lead character sits in a car, and turns on a little tape recorder. The voice says, "This is your Mission, should you take it". This tape recorder will self-destruct.

It's just so juvenile.

PLUS, like you said: What MISSION?

The noble cause for which Casey Sheehan and 1800+ and counting American troops have given their lives - an Islamic Republic of Iraq. Yes, the world would probably have been better off with Saddam in charge and sanctioned...

... when a 'General' or 'King' or whatever fearless leader wanted to wage war, actually got his ass on a horse and led the charge ?

Think we could get Pretzelface to do that, since he's claiming 'WE' will stay/fight/win ???

I'll pitch in on a collection to buy him a horse to ride into battle ...
