US signs over 50 million dollar direct aid to Palestinians
US officials signed over 50 million dollars in aid to Palestinian finance minister Salam Fayad, in Washington's third direct grant to the Palestinian Authority.

The agreement for the payout was signed three months after US President George W. Bush promised to grant the 50 million dollars in direct aid after meeting Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas at the White House.

"What is important is that it is the third time that the Americans have dealt with us directly ... It's a sign of confidence that the American administration has with us," Fayad told AFP.

The Americans were formerly reluctant to channel money directly to the Palestinian Authority, over fears that it was plagued by corruption under the leadership of the late Yasser Arafat.

As if that's not a drop in the bucket anyway.
Especially when you consider we've spent 6,000 times that on Iraq. And that we give 60 times that to Israel every year.

11. It beats she standard $50,000 we offer Cuba after each hurricane,
but it is still chump change in comparison to what we give Isreal.

6. Most of it was skim to Yassir's personal acount.
All aid payments and investments had to go via the PA - not direct to the recipients.

12. Yeah, it really amazes me how this
Administration refuses to help it's own poor, but yet gives billion dollar giveaways to other countries.

:wtf:

And, the answer to your question?:
Because they're greedy and selfish thanks to the Bush&Corp. influence.

13. My point in asking is this
Even us Democrats sometimes ask "Well, why don't the other wealthy Arabs help feed their own people?" My response to that is that we don't do it here - why should we expect them to be any different than we are?
