Grand jury to reconvene in phone-jamming case
MANCHESTER, N.H. — A federal prosecutor said he will reconvene a grand jury in a case involving the jamming of Democratic phone lines in 2002, raising the question of whether more Republicans could be accused.

A former New England director for the Republican National Committee was indicted and is scheduled to go to trial in December. Two others, a former state GOP executive director and a GOP consultant, have pleaded guilty and been sentenced to prison.

"The grand jury investigation is not complete. The grand jury will meet at least one additional time before the end of this year," U.S. Department of Justice attorney Andrew Levchuk said.

7. Prosecutor wants delay in phone-jam civil case; grand jury to reconvene
MANCHESTER, NH — A federal prosecutor yesterday asked a Hillsborough County Superior Court judge to halt evidence gathering for another 90 days in the Democrats' civil lawsuit against the Republican State Committee.

Andrew Levchuk, an attorney with the U.S. Justice Department's computer crimes unit, said the government does not want some of the witnesses questioned under oath until after federal prosecutors reconvene the grand jury in an on-going probe of illegal phone jamming by the GOP during the 2002 state election.

Levchuk's request for a stay raised questions as to whether any more Republicans could be implicated in the investigation that has thus far led to the jailing of two GOP operatives, including the former state director Chuck Magee, and the indictment of James Tobin, a Maine resident who was the Bush-Cheney regional campaign director in 2004.
