Stocks fall with consumer confidence
By Vivianne Rodrigues

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks slid on Friday as data showing a larger-than-expected drop in consumer confidence hurt retailers on fears that consumers may curb spending.

-snip-

"Consumers are beginning to feel the impact of higher oil prices in their pockets," said Larry Peruzzi, senior equity trader at The Boston Co. Asset Management, with $68 billion in stocks. "Less confidence means less spending and no wonder we have been seeing shares of retailers and banks faltering."

...which is why I've invested a smaller percentage of my retirement money in the stock exchange. I hope I'm wrong, but things may get kind of bad folks.

2. What a bunch of hooey
The pressinent sez the economy is STRONG and GETTING STRONGER!!

People are just depressed about how the liberal media is portraying things in Eye-Rack (where things are just SPIFFY). Once that constitution is ratified we're gonna see the voter's frowns turned UPSIDE DOWN and that spending is gonna pick up like GANGBUSTERS (best in 200 years, we predict).

BTW, gas prices are lowest they've been in 100 years compared to inflation and the people in Europe are paying 20 times as much so I don't see what the problem is there.

:sarcasm:
