Sheehan Ad Says Bush Lied About Iraq War
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 09:34 AM by Mark E. Smith
Baltimore Sun 8/27/05 by Nick Madigan

Some stations refuse to air commercial by soldier's mom

In her effort to elicit an explanation from President Bush as to his reasons for continuing to wage war in Iraq, Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a fallen soldier, has ruffled feathers far and wide, riling the president's supporters unlike anyone since Michael Moore's polemics in Fahrenheit 9/11.

Yesterday Sheehan - who has returned to her protest post near Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, after tending to a family emergency - launched a national commercial on CNN and Fox News in which she asks the president, "How many more soldiers have to die before we say enough?"

"You were wrong about the weapons of mass destruction," Sheehan says in the ad. "You were wrong about the link between Iraq and al-Qaida. You lied to us and because of your lies, my son died."

The ad had already been running on local stations in the Crawford and Waco markets. It also ran in Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho, during visits by Bush this week to both areas. But several stations refused to run the ad, in at least one case because there was "no proof" that weapons of mass destruction had not been found in Iraq ...

1. No proof WMD's were NOT found
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 09:27 AM by Dyedinthewoolliberal
except by the admission of the White House about 4/5 months ago? A press release buried in most newspapers where it was admitted the search for WMD's was being halted becuse there weren't any? That proof? This is another example of the media being in the back pocket of the Administration.

4. It's logically impossible to prove a negative.
And they know it.

8. Maybe it can be reshot with new language -- hold up the press release and
say "At last even you admit there were no WMD's. You were wrong then, and wrong now."

2. What twisted logic.....
"there was "no proof" that weapons of mass destruction had not been found in Iraq ..."

Hey stupid! You have it backwards.....the onus is on the government to prove that there were WMD. We the people dont have to prove a damn thing.

3. The Crawford Protest
<snip>

Terry Michael, writing in Thursday's Washington Times, said the Crawford protest "is the opposite of reasoned debate."

"It's a sideshow of verbal combatants yelling past each other," wrote Michael, founder of the Washington Center for Politics & Journalism. "For average citizens to be presented with meaningful alternatives to the current war policy, we must have legitimate, fully engaged discourse, with intelligent voices coming to competing conclusions."

<unsnip>

I, for one, would like to know where this "legitimate, fully engaged discourse" is occurring? Congress? Ha! Media? <snort> Anywhere? Until then, maybe the protest is the best we've got?

"...because general manager David D'Antuono said, 'it could very well be offensive to our community in Utah.'"

Ummm...judging by the protests last week in Utah, I'd say El Presidente is more offensive to your community than Cindy Sheehan.

10. Thanks to DEM silence on the DSM, media can get away with that excuse.
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 11:41 AM by Dr Fate
Many people- people who even read and watch the news have to agree that there "is no proof he lied.

The average voter may even have a gut feeling he did lie, but they have never heard of, or very little of the DSM, nigerian documents, etc. Thank silent Democrats,Republicans & the media for that.
