CINCINNATI - Within minutes of Paul Hackett's election night defeat, supporters already were speculating on his next run for office.
In the weeks that followed, he's been on national cable TV shows and has gotten speaking invitations from veterans and Democratic groups across the country.
"Every day I walk into my law office and say 'Today, I will clear my desk.' And then there are 50 more messages," Hackett said. "I'm amazed. I'm humbled."
Hackett, 43, an Iraq war veteran, narrowly lost a special election to fill a U.S. House seat in Ohio's 2nd District on Aug. 2. Hackett pulled 48 percent of the vote in the GOP stronghold, which voted 64 percent for President Bush last year.
