Kerry Announces Job Stimulation Package
Saturday October 18, 2003 9:16 PM

By MIKE GLOVER
Associated Press Writer

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry offered an education and job stimulation package Saturday that would provide tax credits for anyone who took vocational training or college courses to improve job skills.

<snip>

His proposal includes giving $25 billion to the states in each of two years to help avoid soaring college tuitions that have blocked many from higher education and tax credits for college tuitions and vocational training.

1. The Dem king of the $2000 a plate fundraisers
is finally getting his A$$ in gear. He's finally realizing that people out here are hurting!! Welcome to the real world, JK.

BTW, how do people whose jobs have gone overseas and who are very highly qualified "upgrade their skills?" Move to India?

3. But "tax credits" are an upper-middle class/rich idea
What good are tax credits to someone who barely has enough money to pay income tax?

4. About that Headline
I read that headline, and I couldn't help thinking a Saturday night thought (and am grateful to John Kerry and the headline writer for it). I like those "stimulation packages." :evilgrin:

On a (slightly) more serious tangent, isn't there a little plainer language for "stimulation package"? I guess it's just a Kerry hangup of mine, that he uses the academic language I like rather than the language most people use. What's a "stimulation package"? He means a "job creation plan," right?

Sorry for the digression. I just feel like I want to hack Kerry's speeches to bits, hauling out all those big words and tightening up the whole thing so he says what he means better.
