RIYADH, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Saudi security forces on Monday fought with
gunmen believed to be Iraqis in the industrial city of Jubail, east of the capital, a security source told Reuters. The world's top oil producer has been battling a wave of al Qaeda-inspired attacks over the past two years. Militants are attempting to overthrow the pro-Washington ruling royal family and drive Westerners out of the birthplace of Islam.
At least 91 foreign nationals and Saudi civilians have been killed in the attacks.
Saudi forces thwarted imminent attacks last week by rounding up 41 suspected militants in a series of raids across the kingdom, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
