Chinese President to visit Canada
Ottawa — The President of China, Hu Jintao, will make a state visit to Canada next week.

“I look forward to welcoming President Hu to Canada to continue our ongoing dialogue as our two countries prepare to mark 35 years of diplomatic relations,” Mr. Martin said in a release announcing the visit.

Mr. Hu will meet with Mr. Martin's cabinet on Sept. 9 to discuss issues such as climate change, energy, science and technology, investment, trade, human rights and tourism.

Though it is Mr. Hu's first visit, Chinese presidents have twice before come to Canada since the two countries established diplomatic relations on October 13, 1970.

10. I've seen pictures of the beaches
on PEI and the countryside in Nova Scotia and the thought of hearing some Scottish Accents are making me smile.

We're going to a concert in Halifax to see "The Proclaimers"..a duo from Scotland whom I just adore!

11. The Ocean is very warm on the northwest side of NS & PEI this time of year
Beeches stay very cold on the Bay of Fundy.

Beeches on the east side of NS can be cool or war. But never hot.

Lots of lakes too!

12. You won't hear Scottish accents in Nova Scotia
You will hear the east coast maritime accent common to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick....It's a sort of a lilting accent, unlike the way we speak in Ontario or other provinces....I think you'll love the people there...They are so hospitable and down to earth....Have a wonderful time....:hi:

13. Though they only stopped speaking Gaelic 100 years ago in some places.

Tis funny. In some places in Canada the language is even older than in Europe. Like Acadian French (Maritimes - Louisiana) in from the 1600s while the French France speaks has evolved. Newfoundland accent too has some bits that are very old.

As long as you don't cop an attitude and call every third-person-singular-male "Buddy" - you'll do fine.

Watch out for the sense of humor the further north you go. And you better be prepared to laugh at yourself long before you laugh at other people. Neocons would never make it in NS.
