Bush Draws Comparisons Between Iraq War, WWII

SAN DIEGO -- A resolute President George W. Bush, facing a public wary of his war policies, declared Tuesday at Naval Air Station North Island that "we will not rest until victory is America's and our freedom is secure."

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, the president drew comparisons between that 20th-century conflict and current wars on terror and in Iraq.

"As we mark this anniversary, we are again a nation at war. Once again war came to our shores with a surprise attack that killed thousands in cold blood," he said at a naval base here, referring to Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

He said that as in the time of World War II, the United States now faces "a ruthless enemy" and "once again we will not rest until victory is America's and our freedom is secure."

38. Pandering to the "Great Generation"
Hitler had panzer divisions steamrolling across Europe. Tojo's troops occupied much of Asia-Pacific. Both had one objective, to secure vital raw materials, manpower and territories to keep their nations growing.

You see that in this conflict? I see a rag-tag bunch of pissed-off people tired of being shoved around by their own leaders and the West, who turn to fundamentalism as the unthinking answer to their problems. In my reading of this, there is virtually no similarity between WWII and this conflict, unless you talk about terror as weapon, like Stukas, Kamikazes and car bombs.

The sad thing is, twenty years from now, we'll open up diplomatic relations with our "friends" the Iranians, again. Meanwhile, on hundreds of thousands of walls and dressers and fireplace mantels will be the photos of long-dead loved ones named Harry or Ahmed, killed for some forgotten cause initiated because of a bunch of lies.

12. Well, we ARE playing the German Role this time around
A little more kinder and gently, after all Totalitarianism returns in new forms adapted to the time and place it is trying to dominate.

And what worked on the Germans won;t work on the Americans. So it's a bit different, MUCH more gentle (for the moment, anyway).

And we have a Cowardly Fuhrer who's virtually every word is the OPPOSITE of what he means.

Some things don't ever change...

51. Much More Gentle For The Moment
http://johnmccarthy90066.tripod.com/id362.html

These folks, the Iraqi Resistance, had the expertise to acquire the photographs in this segment, edit it, and put throbbing music to it.

People in the movie business ask, "How did they acquire these photos, obviously taken by Americans because of the proximity to the subjects, and put this documentary together in June of 2005 when the Resistance was "in it's last throws?"

IF this is legitimate, and it appears to be, we are facing a determined 'enemy' who are adopting the mantra of "Give me liberty or give me death".

And, our boys and girls are not allowed to see this information re the MSM and the Bush Administration.

Please pass this on to interested parties.

The French and Germans?

Who are we supposed to hate this week?

Cindy Sheehan?

Hurricane Katrina?

"Katrina hates New Orleans because of it's freedoms"

31. Pantload says "credibility at stake"
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N30285775.htm

SAN DIEGO, Aug 30 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush, facing waning support for his Iraq policy, on Tuesday appealed to Americans not to waver because of the rising death toll and said U.S. credibility was at stake.

With nearly 1,900 U.S. troops killed in Iraq and anti-war protesters trailing him from his secluded Texas ranch to California, Bush has seen his job approval ratings plummet to the lowest levels of his presidency.

In a speech in which he sought to cast the conflict as the modern day equivalent of America's World War Two struggle against Japan, Bush said Americans "once again" had a stark choice to make.

"Now as then our enemies have made their fight a test of American credibility and resolve. Now as then they are trying to intimidate free people and break our will," Bush said.

No, Idiotsonofanutjob, the US credibility is not at stake. You destroyed it. Now stfu.

32. A few more comparisons....
Riiiight....
Okay- I'll play...

Roosevelt responds to the Japanese attack by targeting.... Japan!
Bush responds to the Saudi/Terror attack by targeting... a nation which had nothing to do with it!

Roosevelt condemns Hirohito and the Japanese Joint Chiefs.
Bush invites the Bandar boys to his ranch and flies them out when the heat flares.

Roosevelt tells us, "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself."
Bush tells us, "Duct tape! Duct tape!"

Roosevelt tells us we will face severe shortages.
Bush/Cheney tell us that hangining clothes out to dry to save energy is unpatriotic.

Roosevelt and Hull initiate rationing
Bush initiates a new frat boy into Skull & Bones (O-kay, I'm at work... give me more time and this one would've been more imaginative)

Roosevelt dies in office from over-work.
Bush takes longest vacation in Presidential history!

See? Bush was right! There are lot's of comparisons!

That Son-of-a-Bush is REALLY starting to piss me off

I remember that day December 7, 1941 clearly, and there is no comparison between World War II and this illegal invasion of Iraq. FDR was a man not a slime little boy like junior.

WW II was a national effort. Ten million people didn't march in protest for WW II like they before the Iraq invasion. How many Americans now support this custer fuck? About 35% and probably less if the truth is known.

George W. Bush is a liar, a thief and a war criminal.

I hope I live long enough to see this prick prosecuted for his crimes.

Hello Sabra,

Here are a few comparisons of WWII and the War in Iraq. It Would be awfully nice if Mr. Bush would address these issues that he currently ignores and which the MSM refuses to publish and comment on and that is the essence of my web site. If I can reach one young man or woman who are contemplating entering military service, the effort of placing this site in the public domain will be worthwile. Would be nice if a parent or two took heed. Thank God for the Internet.
