Unions boo the governor

Schwarzenegger's Anaheim fundraiser attracts protesters of what they call anti-labor propositions.

By MARTIN WISCKOL
The Orange County Register

ANAHEIM It was a game within a game at Angel Stadium on Tuesday night, with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger holding a political fundraiser at the park while labor union members pulled out the stops to attack the governor - including satirical trading cards given to fans.

Needing to improve sliding approval ratings and to reverse voter disinterest for his three November ballot measures, Schwarzenegger showed up for campaign money - with Angel owner Arte Moreno and Emulex Chairman Paul Folino hosting the luxury-box fundraiser.

But as with other recent appearances in Orange County and throughout the state, the governor's trip again provided a stage for labor unions upset with Schwarzenegger's efforts to undermine them with his ballot measures.

Those propositions, to be voted on in a Nov. 8 special election, call for longer probation periods for teachers, increased restrictions on state spending and a new process for drawing political district boundaries.

2. and I wonder how many voted for him?
heard on Ed Schultz trash a union leader who is a bush supporter

Ed put her in her place, how could she support an administration that wants to destroy the unions

He said that was the real problem with unions, they do NOT put in good leaders. He has a point for this leader, who supports bush

To me that is a conflict of interest

it is like putting bolton in the U.N.

7. Unfortunately, you are correct.........
Our local union has it's share of wing-nuts. I was urged to run against a very beatable business agent a couple of years ago. I chose to retire instead. It was only later that I learned he is a bush loving, arnie sucker. What a complete jerk!

9. This revelation was on the Ed Schultz show
People have to stop voting against their own interests. I know their are democrats who are extremely upset with the DLC, and I have to believe there are republicans who are upset with the RNC

8. Does anyone have a link to the satirical trading cards? I would love to
see them? Can they be purchased online? And are they just about Arnie or do they include the shrubmeister?

10. We haven't heard too much lately
about the Repubs wanting to change the criteria for becoming President. Guess Arnie isn't the great white hope he was a year ago.

11. More bad news for Arnold: they're shutting his museum in Austria
Schwarzenegger Museum in Austria to Close

By Associated Press

GRAZ, Austria -- A museum displaying training equipment once used by former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger was due to close Wednesday because of financial problems, officials said.

The collection of Schwarzenegger memorabilia, which opened in 1997 when the former actor ("Terminator" films) turned 50, also includes photos and paintings.

It is tucked into a corner of a fitness center in the Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium in Graz, a southern Austrian city near the California governor's home village of Thal.

The fitness center and museum will close because of financial problems, an administrator at the center said. The official said a letter had been sent to Schwarzenegger asking for financial help, but the letter wasn't answered.

Susanne Hoeller, an official at the Graz tourism office, said that although the privately run museum didn't attract large crowds, it was a "pity" for the city to lose its only Schwarzenegger site.
