US lifts nuclear curbs on India
India is looking at nuclear power to meet its energy needs

The United States has removed some export restrictions on six Indian civilian nuclear and space facilities.
The facilities will now be allowed to purchase sensitive technology from the US without being subject to special licenses, reports say.

Washington had imposed sanctions on India following its nuclear tests in May 1998.

But earlier this year it agreed to increase co-operation on civilian nuclear energy programmes.

In a statement, the US embassy in Delhi said it expected the move to boost high-technology trade between the two countries.

India has observership in the SCO, and is now even participating in the SCO's joint military exercises.

2. Better India than China or Pakistan

We've been coddling those two countries way too long and allow our corporations to give both countries extremely sensitive technology.

So far India has proven responsible as a nuclear power and there has been no evidence of them proliferating it.

Of course, in reality this has little to do with India. This will basically be more corporate welfare and pork barrel spending. I wouldn't be surprised if it were Bechtel constructing the plants and the US will be lobbying for them to get the gig, just like it did for China.
