US jets destroy insurgent target near Syrian border in third day of strike

BAGHDAD, Iraq The U-S military says Marine jets have destroyed an Iraqi train station that officials say was being used to store weapons.

A military statement says Marine F-A-18 jets dropped precision-guided 500 pound bombs after several "reliable sources" saw about 50 al-Qaida-linked militants using the facility.

U-S aircraft launched attacks against suspected militant safe houses in the same area Saturday and yesterday.

History will probably show we tried to take them out right after taking Baghdad in the spring of '03, but the hell breaking loose in the rest of Iraq made it impossible. We don't have the troops to do Iran, but with the help of the IDF, they might fool themselves into thinking Syria's possible.

The drumbeat has been going on and on for months now, and things like this just betray the fixation. Not only that, it's handy for cobbling together some justification through an "incident" where our innocent combat forces are cruelly attacked.
