Bush: We will rebuild

Seven thousand more troops will be sent to the Gulf Coast region and New Orleans will rise again, President Bush said this morning in his weekly radio address, which was also televised.

"We will rebuild the great city of New Orleans," he said. "We will not rest until we get this right and the job is done."

The president said Friday that the relief response was "not acceptable." Since then, thousands of National Guard troops have arrived to provide much needed food and water and to police the area.

Bush will visit the region again on Monday.

4. ...Trent Lott's house...
And some high-rent condos, and lots of McMansions. Housing for the poor to come back? Sorry, we don't have the money for that...we had to give Paris Hilton another tax cut.

6. Should've fortified the levees in the first place
then wouldn't need to rebuild it.

He seems to have a thing for knocking things down or letting them be knocked down and then rebuilding them: WTC, Baghdad, New Orleans...

7. Yeah, they'll build 14 military bases where NO once stood.
As well as detention camps for all those troublemakers, like the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and any Dem politicians who've spoken out.

Don't worry DLC minions: you're all safe.

10. "I believe... I believe... I believe..."
Did you listen to this incompetent in his speech yesterday? I was wondering why I wasn't feeling reassured by his words -- other than the fact that I know him to be a soulless bastard with no regard for his fellow man -- and then it dawned on me. He continually prefaced what he was saying with "I believe..."

Here's what I believe. I believe that the great city of New Orleans will rise again and be a greater city of New Orleans. (Applause.) I believe the town where I used to come from, Houston, Texas, to enjoy myself -- occasionally too much -- (laughter) -- will be that very same town, that it will be a better place to come to. That's what I believe. I believe the great state of Louisiana will get its feet back and become a vital contributor to the country.

I believe the people of Mississippi will recover. I understand we got a lot of work to do. And I understand it seems dark right now, but by working together and pulling together and capturing that great spirit of our country, a great city will rise again, a great state will be vibrant."

You're in a position to make things happen, jackass. It's not a matter of Faith-Based Recovery. Make it happen! Promise, guarantee that you're going to make it happen! People's lives have been destroyed and they need to be reassured that their government is CLOSE behind them, and will do whatever it takes to get their lives back on track.

Here's a thought. Take a stark action that will demonstrate that this wasn't just another week. Rollback the tax cuts for the rich and the extremely wealthy dead, in order to help fund the rebuilding, and to help get FEMA funding back up to previous levels -- so that future such post-disaster disasters will be avoided.
