Chavez accepts apology from Robertson but still might sue
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that he accepted a letter of apology from US televangelist Pat Robertson, who called two weeks ago for Chavez' assassination.

But Chavez, speaking in his weekly television show "Hello, President," said he would reserve the right to sue Robertson.
On August 22 Robertson said on his televised religious program in the United States that the US government should assassinate Chavez.

"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," said the conservative Christian leader. "We don't need another 200 billion dollar war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

Chavez said Sunday that Robertson had apologized to him in a letter, and that he accepted the apology "wholeheartedly, as the good Christian that I am." "But my government and I reserve the right to take legal action on the case," said Chavez.

1. That was nice of Chavez. Robertson belongs in prison for life.
He solicited an act of terrorism. Under the lastest bills to pass the House, Robertson could be executed by the government for his actions.

4. Love thy enemy. Isn't that what Jesus taught?
Oh wait, Chavez is a socialist. He can't be anywhere near Jesus or his teachings. :sarcasm:

I guess advocating an ideology that was built on the idea of mutual cooperation and ensuring everybody gets a chance instead of those who can afford to pay automatically makes you the anti-christ worthy of being killed off. Who better than Pat Robertson to judge you worthy of life?

6. Has the actual letter been made public?
I would like to read the actual words that Robertson had to use. Heck, I'd like to see the letter published as an open letter to the entire world.

he won't read the letter on 'Alo,' saying that it's up to Robertson to read it publicly on his very own progam.

that from his Christian heart he actually does forgive Robertson.

that not as Hugo Chavez, but as the representative of the Venezuelan people, he still reserves the right for legal action.

8. Wouldn't read the letter on "Alo Presidente"
but this just reported on Vheadlines.com
Viva Chavez!!

<clips>

...Speak about class! At the very moment I'm writing this, Chavez is saying on 'Alo Presidente' that he got a letter with apology from Pat Robertson about his declarations.

His answer?

First: he won't read the letter on 'Alo,' saying that it's up to Robertson to read it publicly on his very own progam.

Second: that from his Christian heart he actually does forgive Robertson.

Third: that not as Hugo Chavez, but as the representative of the Venezuelan people, he still reserves the right for legal action.

13. Dear Hugo
I didn't say "assassinate," I said "take you out with special forces."

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.

Love, Pat.
