In N.O.

Accidents are bound to happen in such a long and large operation. I hope they are alright.

4. Idiot on MSNBC said it was "shot" down although there is zero
evidence of it. Cannot believe the sensationalism of these jerks!

5. He just said it again
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 07:16 PM by Up2Late
asked the reporter what she knew about it being shot at, she said she didn't hear of that.

Who is the Chris? Now he said their is a Fire, but didn't show it, then called it "Fires."

What a Jerk.

10. They just said on Geraldo
that it wasn't the coast guard but did not know whose copter it was. Geraldo didn't say that but someone from the coast guard that he was talking to. Geraldo didn't look as if he believed any of it.

11. I think they are right Here's an update from MSNBC
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 10:03 PM by Up2Late
On T.V. footage, it showed it has no markings at all except RESCUE on the tail. The shot I originally saw was only from the bottom. Maybe it's an Oil Corp. Oil rig rescue helocopter.

<http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9156612/> ...A helicopter crashed Sunday evening in New Orleans. NBC News reported that the two pilots survived and were in good condition. There was some confusion over whose helicopter it was. A Coast Guard spokesman said the craft belonged to a civilian contractor doing work for the Army. Initial reports had said it was a Coast Guard chopper.

A state official said the helicopter was not involved in rescue operations. It crashed in the area of the Danziger Bridge, said Mark Smith, spokesman for the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

“The helicopter came down hard and rolled over on its side and broke its blades off and broke its tail off,” Smith told reporters in Baton Rouge.

“There were two civilians on the helicopter. Both sustained cuts and scrapes,” he said. It was not known why the helicopter was in the area, Smith said.

12. I heard that too!
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 11:56 PM by discerning christian
But in addition to everything in your thread, they added that this was an "animal rescue group" And, oh my God, I just heard on CNN that there are dogs all up in the trees that are starving to death!! They were probably trying to rescue some of them!! Can't take much more of this !! I'm reaching my "saturation point" !!! (edited for spelling)

16. I've been watching CNN/International most of tonight and I have seen
at least one Coast Guard Helicopter that is painted all red, but it also has additional logos, a different tail rotor and says Coast Guard, (or United States Coast Guard) on it, so I can see how someone got confused.

15. Looks like someone's fire department copter.
Maybe even a FEMA copter, if they have any. Doesn't look like a military or Coast Guard paint job on that thing.
Poor pilots are probably exhausted from the trip and the rescue work. Glad they were able to walk away.

14. The USCG
has bright red undercarriges... which is the reason everyone thought it was a USCG asset, but now there are confliting reports.

Personally, I think the USCG is possibly the organization due the most praise of anyone.
