Dean, Clark lead Democratic presidential hopefuls in fight for Arizona

PHOENIX - Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and retired Gen. Wesley Clark are atop the field of Democratic presidential candidates in the fight for Arizona, according to a poll released Monday.

The poll by the Behavior Research Center found 32 percent of participants identified as likely voters with a preference favored Dean. Twenty-four percent supported Clark.

The statewide poll of 540 registered voters throughout Arizona was conducted from Oct. 9 through Oct. 16 and had a sampling error of plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.

Dean and Clark were trailed by Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, each with 15 percent.

Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt had 8 percent, the Rev. Al Sharpton 4 percent, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards and former Illinois Sen. Carol Moseley Braun each with 1 percent, and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich zero.

He was counting on Arizona for his big debut, and now he's only fourth.
And why in hell is Dean/Clark grabbing 56% by themselves? That's the most lopsided of all state polls yet, and Arizona isn't for a long while. The only time anyone's been there was for the debates.
