House may take up another energy bill, DeLay says

WASHINGTON (AFX) -- The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has underscored a fragility of the U.S. energy infrastructure and may prompt the House to revisit major energy legislation passed this summer, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, told reporters Tuesday. "We're going to look at doing another energy bill that addresses these concerns," DeLay said. He refused to elaborate on what provisions the new bill would contain. DeLay dismissed suggestions that the fiscal fallout from the storm would derail Republican efforts to extend PResident Bush's first-term tax cuts. DeLay also said that lawmakers should continue working on retirement security issues, includnig Social Security legislation.

6. They're trying to cover their asses
They know the energy bill they passed about a month ago did nothing but coddle the oil companies and now that everyone realizes we're being screwed by the oil companies and their friends the GOP, they've got to try to save 2006. If they don't it's all Democratic from here on in.

7. I expect massive subsidies to oil exploration and refining companies...

Even with their record profits and uncountable cash reserves, we need to subsidize them for ANWR and other exploration, and to help fund construction of additional refineries.

Likely, you can expect "temporary" curtailing of environmental laws, in order to "expedite" the exploration and refinery construction.
