NBC News chief Shapiro resigns

LOS ANGELES – NBC News President Neal Shapiro resigned Tuesday, ending months of speculation about his future at the network that is facing heightened competition at its flagship morning program, "Tuesday."
An NBC spokeswoman confirmed Shapiro's resignation, which the 12-year network veteran announced in a memo to news staff. He has held the top NBC News job since 2001.

Shapiro said he had been considering a change since the network began its annual planning and that he missed the creativity he enjoyed in previous jobs as a producer.

"I've concluded that it's time to move on to a new challenge," Shapiro wrote in a copy of the memo obtained by Reuters.

As NBC News president, Shapiro also was responsible for the news gathering of cable TV network MSNBC.

4. You think the Bushevik who replaces him will be better?
Got some news for you, it is almost axiomatic that whoever fills that position will be MUCH more Sovietized-Bushevized than he who came before.

did olbermann last night and on tobacco earlier help this exit?

when olbermann went on about the evils of the tobacco industry last month and shapiro went nuts on him in public, shaprio showed his ass for all to see.

or the heads at general electric are pissed at olbermann and whoever gave him a soapbox in the first place.

lets see what happens to keith about this.
