Halliburton to Increase Prices in October (Stock at All Time High)
UPDATE 1-Halliburton to increase prices in October
Tue Sep 6, 2005 12:56 PM ET
(Adds stock move, loss comments)

NEW YORK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Halliburton Co. (HAL.N: Quote, Profile, Research) will increase prices across all of its energy services business lines next month, the company's Chairman and Chief Executive David Lesar said on Tuesday, although he declined to specify the sizes of those price increases.

"With the demand that's out there and what we see coming forward in the marketplace, we are announcing that we are going to put another price increase in across all of our business lines," Lesar said in a presentation at a Lehman Brothers energy conference, monitored via Webcast. "We will put a price increase through in October."

In mid-day trading, Halliburton shares were up 2.5 percent at $63.89, an all-time high for the stock.

1. What a remarkable turnaround. Somehow, in the span of 4 1/2 years...
... Halliburton has gone from a money-losing operation to record profits. I can't wait for the backstory books to come out, revealing their business strategy responsible for the turnaround. I guess we'll just have to wonder, until then.

3. Yep.
  • Cheney, as Secy of Defense under Bush I, begins large privatization and outsourcing of military initiative.
  • Post-admin and now CEO of Halliburton, Cheney positions Halliburton for privatization contracts -- but lack of conflict and too few lucrative contracts result in a money-losing operation.
  • Cheney, as (Vice)President of the US, initiates unwarranted war against Iraq, and issues no-bid contracts to his previous employer (-- in which he still holds millions of dollars in stock?)
  • Halliburton making money hand-over-fist.

6. Sounds like they know their gravy run is almost over
They have to make as much as possible in this next year because Democrats may win back Congress and they will be out their sugar tit. Is there anything worse than a War Profiteer? I think they are worse than child torturers or serial killers. War creates both those situations and they encourage war so they can profit. There are only a few things on this earth I truly hate but War Profiteering is one of those things. They are the absolute scum of the earth.
