Another storm would devastate U.S. energy -analysts(Not for nervous folks)
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N07187618.htm

HOUSTON, Sept. 7 (Reuters) - U.S. oil and natural gas supplies would be devastated if another strong storm hits while the Gulf of Mexico is recovering from Hurricane Katrina, energy analysts said on Wednesday.

"We certainly can't stand another storm," said Tom Bentz, vice president and senior energy analyst for BNP Paribas Commodity Futures Inc. "That's why people are watching the storms out there now."

Two hurricanes and a tropical storm were churning in the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday. None of the current storms are forecast to enter the Gulf.

The 2005 hurricane season, which lasts until Nov. 30, has been one of the most active on record and is just reaching the traditional peak of activity in early September.

1. Or a terrorists attack.
If we would have a major attack right now, we would be ruined. If we aren't ruined already.

7. Bring US to its knees
Any kind of major disturbance when we're wounded like this is a serious risk to our national security. This admin knows how to interpret weather reports as well as the average Joe. IMO they LIOP for true.

2. We're only half-way through hurricane season
And it will take a year before Katrina is cleaned up.

That's the most optimistic assessment I've seen...

16. victims of last year's hurricanes have still not rebuilt.
it will be a long haul.

but i thought the same thing after 9/11 - like... how the hell are they going to clean that up, and so on. it took a long time, but eventually got finished. of course, that was a much more organized operation than this is!

19. But it isn't finished.

They still haven't built a building. Not so important in New York, but in New Orleans, nothing can be considered finished until houses are rebuilt.

Katrina Tsunami
by Richard S. Ehrlich
September 7, 2005

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Katrina's victims may learn lessons from Thailand's
tsunami where DNA and real estate profits have become priorities, and
thousands of survivors still cannot cope eight months after rescue.

23. I'm not surprised that 8 months later

the survivors are still having problems.

I guess I am also not surprised that real estate profits are a priority. I expect that in New Orleans, much to the detriment of the former inhabitants.

Thanks for the link.

9. The BK filings...
In the hurricane strike zone should be huge.

If your house is destroyed, your vehicle is destroyed and you have no job or investment assests, why not wipe out your credit card debt for "good measure"?

14. That wouldn't be an issue
That track takes Ophelia over about 150 miles of land in FL, leaving it weaker than the everyday thunderstorm patterns by the time it gets into the gulf.

8. Yep. Especially since they're already full-up w/ evacuees.

'Oil Storm' predicted a shipping accident in the Houston channels, blocking access to its refineries, as the second hit to oil production. A hurricane whomping Houston could be even more devastating.

10. Another blunder? Moving evacuees from one
hurricane region into another?

BTW, anyone know who holds title to the Astrodome and is there a possible profit motive here?

Good ole Houston boy, perhaps?

becoming a hero. I think it was a put up deal between him and the DarkHouse. I am hoping for a couple of huge ones.

11. Refineries, Shipping, Approach Over Gulf Would Damage
the GOM production to the west of the MS outlet that escaped damage this time around.

Considering how bad of JuJu the Chimp has been, I would say it's about 100%.

Not that I want anyone else to be hurt or killed. But wouldn't it be great to see how fast the government reacted to that?
