Source says Katrina `expose` [by Michael Moore] considered
LOS ANGELES, CA, United States (UPI) -- Filmmaker Michael Moore is considering a documentary critical of the U.S. government`s handling of hurricane Katrina, MSNBC reports.

'It has all the elements that made `Fahrenheit 911` such a powerful film,' a source told MSNBC`s 'The Scoop.' 'The political outrage, the human suffering and the incredible footage.'

Although there was no official comment from the Moore camp, MSNBC noted the filmmaker has been a vocal critic of government culpability on his Web site.

'There is much to be said and done about the manmade annihilation of New Orleans, caused NOT by a hurricane but by the very specific decisions made by the Bush administration in the past four and a half years,' he wrote. 'Do not listen to anyone who says we can discuss all this later. No, we can`t. Our country is in an immediate state of vulnerability. More hurricanes, wars, and other disasters are on the way and a lazy bunch of self-satisfied lunatics are still running the show.'

48. Soooooooooo.... we admit defeat and just give up and stop trying?
Is THAT the way we should go? REALLY????

HELL NO!!!!!!!

Katrina Changes Everything!!! It's a body blow to this administration. The White House isn't NEARLY as resilient now as it might have been earlier, when the numbers were close enough so they COULD steal it. And not enough huge numbers of people were angry enough out in voter land. Now, they ARE. There's a HUGE "dark mood" as one of the stories described it among the American people. They're telling pollsters that things are NOT getting better, that we're off on the WRONG track (THAT has not improved, either, over several years of polling now - but it's only now that the media's begun to take notice of it). They're pissed about New Orleans.

Come September 24th and the big anti-war march in Washington, they're gonna be reminded of Cindy Sheehan and how more people got pissed about the war because she stood up and spoke out and put a human face on the opposition and actually got press attention for it. THAT was a blow to the White House, too, especially in the imperious, arrogant way they handled her. That story will reignite, too, and everyone who was already pissed, or had been awakened, will remember THAT outrage also.

We're at critical mass, guys. I submit that if Michael Moore DOES do a documentary about Katrina, it will have a FAR more powerful impact than "Fahrenheit 9/11" even did. The receptors are softened up now. A lot more has happened since, the body count from the war has gone up, the insurgency and other violence and terrorist recruitment has gone up even more, and it's an even more collosal and obvious failure now than ever before. Combine it with Katrina and this just might be the coup de grace we need.

GO MICHAEL MOORE!!!! YOU ABSOLUTELY, STUNNINGLY, ROCK!!!!!!!!!

41. For the record, the 'voters' weren't the ones perpetrating fraud
in the last few elections. The only people accusing actual voters are the repukes, and they have failed every time. 'Election fraud', or even 'Vote fraud' seems more appropriate to me.

I hope I don't sound condescending about this, I realize I am mildly obsessed with this terminology :P

It's clearly more important that Adam and Steve can't get hitched,
and that people with no income get tax cuts, and that even loons
be able to keep their six-shooters than it is that we keep any of
those folks alive.

18. Racism a key theme of F 9/11 --
I was just thinking today about the animation sequence by the guys who make "South Park" -- it argued that whites became attached to their guns because they were 'fraid of the freed slaves. The interweaving of racism and militarism has been going on for a very long time. I should go watch F 9/11 again - there is so, so much to it.

His images wont lie. I think it is a good idea. And more people than just DEM activists saw F-9/11- a lot of curiosity seekers & young people were turned on by F-9-11 at the theater.... Even more rented the DVD to "see what all the fuss was about."

31. Yup- he is indeed the P.T. Barnum of Politics. I've said that before.
Except the suckers are the Right Wing media who will once again give him all that free publicity. Once again, curiosity seekers will pay money to "see what all the fuss is about." And then they might learn somthing.

Unlike a lot of Democrats, he knows how to "fool" the media into promoting your "product."

Typical Moore will provoke & goad the bad guys & make everyone else think and even laugh.

32. The problem is that Moore doesn't really convince anyone.
People--even liberals--assume that he's slanting the material. Because he does. He's a propagandist, not a real documentarian.

Most of the country is demanding accountability. We don't need Michael Moore to point out the obvious.

...or was it the overall highest grossing documenatary of any genre, of all time? Thats alot of tickets.

The real propaganda is what Moore refuted in F-9/11: Bush's BS.

I'll bet his facts in the new movie will expose even more Bush BS that the media ignores.

I'd love to see this movie- I hope he gets it out in a sooner rather than later.

It's all very easy to say that f9/11 was "all lies" or that Moore is a liar...it's harder to actually specify which facts in the film ARE lies.

What is slanted in F9/11? Give me more than one example, please.

Documentaries have always included opinion. Historically, quite a few have actually qualified as propaganda. But propaganda for the good guys!

That is the point with Michael Moore. Do we let @#!! Rove use it and not use the same tactics? Most Americans are only moved by quick talking points. Michael Moore used that to our advantage in F9/11 & he must do it again. We can't let the Repukes be the only ones to use the most effective sway tactic. In fact, we must get off our asses and use it better than they do.

if he isn't Baxtered first. He communicates with people who have been watching right-wing politics since forever, and appreciate the one person who has something to say about it.

If there's finally any justice in the world to come, he will be joined by others. I fully believe it would suit him just fine, and I DON'T believe it's "all about Michael" whatsoever. What he's discussing through his work affects and upsets any people of conscience.

I don't see how it would aid efforts toward reform any, as only political partisans like many here would go to see it on account of the 'Michael Moore' name being attached.

And like someone else already stated, that's just preaching to the choir.

Not to mention, the whenever a Democratic politician criticized the Republicans' or Bush's response to the Hurricane, you'd get the whole "this is the fringe left Michael Moore type talking" diversionary response, and we don't need that.
