Feds so far failing to meet two emergency requests from Blanco

BATON ROUGE Essential emergency equipment Governor Kathleen Blanco requested from federal officials nearly a week ago still hasn't arrived.

Among the items were portable radios and generators that would enable emergency personnel to communicate with each other.

FEMA officials say they're checking on the status of the request.

Blanco asked for the equipment, along with crews to restore communications towers, in a letter to President Bush written on Friday. The letter also asked for 175 generators to help local parishes where police and other officials have been operating without power.

1. Still, there's no rush. Homeland Security's FEMA has no sense of

urgency in this matter. Despite being criticized, they continue to dally. What was it Bush said? Heck of a job, Brownie?

4. It appears Bush's admin. feels no obligation to comply with these requests

from any Democratic governor. They have no respect for the hurricane victems, so they're not concerned in helping the Democratic Governor as she tries to help them.

I am 100% convinced they are NOT going to help her, that any help they offer will be coming so excruciatingly late it will appear as a phenomenal insult to everyone involved.

Just like _Bush's claim that his generals in Iraq haven't ever said they need more troops. When they DO say they need more troops, like Shinseki, he makes sure they're removed.
