U.S. turns down Israeli offer of extensive humanitarian aid
The United States has turned down Israel's offer to provide more extensive aid for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, Israel Radio reported Friday.

A special El Al flight departed for New Orleans on Thursday morning carrying goods for Hurricane Katrina refugees.

The Boeing 747 cargo plane was loaded with 90 tons of goods including food, bottled water, tents, diapers and baby formula.

Another El Al plane carried Foreign and Defense Ministry delegations.

1. Why are we turning down aid from some countries...
but accepting it from others?

I'm quite surprised our government would turn down aid from Israel...I think it's a bit rude to turn down aid from anyone actually...

weird

5. They want Israel indebted to us, not the other way around.
Everything the christian zionists give to Israel comes with strings. These people don't really give a damn about Israel or Jews -- they just need them for their apocolyptic wet dreams. They are rapturous over the idea of the death of Israel, because that means that their final days are here.

8. More likely
That Israel would give us back our some of our own money, part of the 7+++billion a year we *give* them. Or perhaps it would come out of the $300,000 each *displaced* settler (more acurately called squater)is getting gratus USA money bowered from the next generations. Bob

13. This well may be true.
Of course, the "Israeli hating" crowd will find a way to make this about how evil Israel is or its a ploy or other such nonsense. You are very coreect that the right don't care about Israel or the Jews, which is why it is maddening to see Jews support the Rethugs.

12. Israel has joined Cuba on the list of "thanks, but no thanks"
Edited on Fri Sep-09-05 08:13 PM by IndianaGreen
countries that unselfishly made offers of assistance to the Katrina victims only to be thwarted by the idiots running this country.

People will die that could have been saved by the contributions of countries such as Cuba and Israel.

On edit:

The more I think about this, the angrier I get! The same Bush regime that turned down Cuba's offer to fly over one thousand physicians and medical supplies to treat the Katrina victims has now turned
down an equally generous Israeli offer to help.

The callousness of the people running our country is beyond any measure of my outrage at them!

14. I think there are twom more countries where aid was turned away.
Considering our own government has failed us miserably, they really shouldn't be turning away any help!
